Review of THREADS OF RED by @scatteredjules Narrated by Emma Fay Thank you Partner @shadowmountainpub for the gifted copy. I listened to the audiobook on Deseret Bookself subscription Every time I read a new book from Wright it is my new favorite. Her writing is simply magical and this twisted fairytale retelling is stunning. The characters are excellent and I love how Goldilocks and Red Riding Hood are brought together in this story in a unique and satisfying way. Red is such a great character. I loved her strength and determination. One character in particular surprised me and I enjoyed her journey and relationship with Red. I enjoyed the magic and the reason for entering the dark woods. All is creatively done. The audio narrator, Emma Fay, does a great job with the characters. She had to dig deep for the magical ones and I enjoyed the tone for those. Her performance was strong for each character. The twists and turns are exciting. I look forward to any book from this author and I can’t wait to see what is next. ✨Book Review✨ 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗱 by Julie Wright, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What if Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks knew each other? AND liked the same boy? Sign me up! Once I started Threads of Red, I didn't want to stop reading, so I found the audiobook on Audible and kept the story going! Emma Faye is a new-to-me narrator, and I thought she was fantastic. Her voice fit the fairytale atmosphere so well and really brought the story to life! I loved that Red and the other children were learning to read and write, and Red's bravery and fierce love for her younger sister had me rooting for her from the beginning. She would do absolutely ANYTHING for Kristell! ❤️ Goldi is a bit spoiled so she was A LOT for quite a bit of the book, but I loved watching her and Red's relationship develop as the story progressed. And Red's mother? THE WORST. Seriously. Just when you think she can't get any worse... well, buckle up! Once Red, Goldi, and Carrigan reach Grandma's house, the twists and turns really kick in. There are secrets, unexpected surprises, and plenty of moments that had me wondering who they could actually trust. Danger lurked in the enchanted woods and was time running out for Kristell...would they be able to save her? I was completely invested in seeing how everything would unfold! If you love fairytale retellings with a magical twist, strong heroines, complicated relationships, and plenty of suspense, add this one to your list! This is the perfect read for this time of year. I received a digital copy from the publisher via NetGalley and listened to the audiobook on Audible. Getting A Most Unfortunate Happenstance on kindle for less than a dollar is anything but unfortunate, but some of the troubles these authors get into are! At least we haven’t had to spend the night weathering a storm with a stranger only to have him show up as a guest hoping to court a cousin a week later!
