This is a wonderful article in Artnet about Ana Mendieta’s amazing legacy. “Pink Tidal Pools” left the gallery a few weeks back, before I had a chance to post it.It creates a discussion about the seemingly small variations within a body of work of many years.One intention of mine was to let the tidal pools be quirky shapes, a little less elegant than my usual inclination. Another discussion is the greens. Green is a color family more than a color, so when someone says they don’t like green I am puzzled. In this case, the greens are all warm, fairly desaturated toward the olive.With the pinkish light, we have a subtle complementary color palette.There are many pieces remaining @louisagmv in a range of colors, formats, and sizes. I had a great time chatting and posing a bit at the @_woodstockschoolofart instructors exhibition with my old friend Francisco Rivera, @frsculpt .In the 80s we used to hang out quite a bit and he would make me fabulous Spanish coffee when we both had studios in a building on Union Square. We had a show or two together, also, as emerging artists.Fast forward to a few years ago when we reconnected at the Woodstock School of Art.Francisco’s sculpture looks so good paired with my sea painting!
