Artist / Painter. My art and other things. If you have empathy for others, you are welcome in my life.

POSTS STORIES REELS

“Juliet on the balcony” mixed media 10”x14”. Those of you who know how I paint, know how hard this was for me. To not have an exacting brush stroke is excruciating and unbelievably liberating for me at the same time. Next… Romeo under the balcony.

Finally a dry painting and the pleasure of varnish. (I won’t be placing a ring light directly above when filming anymore). #oilpainting #oilpaintingartist #varnishingpaintings #schilder by @schilder

Untitled 28”x18” Oil on canvas. Just putting finishing touches on this painting. I’ll post the final version when I varnish it. ( I’ve been using the same homemade mahl stick for 30 years).

“David” - Oils on panel 16x24”. I met David while walking my dog at the park by my house. He was kind enough to endure posing for me a couple of times. I miss the conversations I had with him. He was my friend. I don’t have that many.

Alice in Wonderland. As a starving artist (well sometimes starving) I do my graphic work and sell prints (and at times prints of my paintings). Yes… Etsy, Amazon and other places. The third picture in is my print room. For artists, that’s where the money is for most us. Prints. So here’s a new print. My life feels like a “Through the Looking Glass” moment. So support your local artist. My Etsy store name “marksdesignandprints”.

“Untitled” work in progress - Oils. This is part of a group of 5 paintings I have been working on. Searching for a contemporary Midwest, dust bowl feeling. Maybe I’m channeling my inner Edward Hopper. I should be so lucky.

Work in progress… that exposes one of my many flaws. Impatience! Some parts dry, some parts wet. I went to oil out what I thought were dry parts and I basically blended out brush strokes into a mud color mess on the house. Lol. Now I will let that part dry and repaint it.
