POSTS STORIES REELS

I have started a project! A podcast, where guests - writers, readers, and industry workers - join me to talk about their favourite books and become the judges of their own shortlists. The first episode is dropping on Friday, where I am joined by the wonderful @finalgirlapologist to talk speculative futures.
I would be honoured if you'd go have a gander. The links are in my bio.

I was really considering just making this project for class and then hiding it away and never posting it into the wilds of the internet. So thank you to my classmates and teacher for being so encouraging and pushing me to post it properly. It's daunting, especially considering that two of the biggest bookish pods in Australia (@garretpodcast and @thefirsttimepod) both spawned from PWE legends, so I've got a lot to live up to! by @scho.lydia

The anthology is here!! It has been so incredible to be part of this anthology featuring the excellent, exciting work of my PWE peers. The editing team have done an incredible job putting a whole book together in just 12 weeks and getting us all together for a great launch
And we made it to the Readings Monthly! What You Become is available in all Readings shops now

My sister took nice bookish photos of me, I took both mh sisters to their first book event to see Alice Oseman. Playing lots of board games, embracing my witchiness and learning tarot and reading and reading and reading by @scho.lydia

The sun is finally sometimes sunning, my reading is full of ghosts and mysteries, and things are looking up by @scho.lydia

I've been enjoying seeing everyone's lists of books they want to get to before the end of the year, so here's mine. It really reflects how my reading has changed this year. I feel like I've really found my taste across different genres and I'm enjoying experimenting with books I never would have read before. Looks like there's a lot of magic and adventure awaiting me for the next few months.
I also made a reading bingo card for the second half of 2026, so I'm trying to match as many of those prompts as possible. These titles will tick off some more, so hopefully I'll fill the whole card!
What's on your list to read before the end of the year? by @scho.lydia

My reading goal of leaning into fun has meant I'm still reading heaps and heaps more than normal. These collages have been really nice to make too and I've enjoyed seeing what common themes I choose to document in different books (it's usually people caring for each other and uncertainty, which are very me themes tbh) by @scho.lydia

Finally feeling like I'm back in the swing of reading and getting there with writing too. I had such a good reading month in July, leaning into what's fun and calling to me in the moment. The result is that I'm reading more than ever and enjoying it more too. Lean into silly books!! by @scho.lydia

Something in the combination of working in the library and tryung to get my mental health back in order has meant I've rediscovered how much fun reading can and should be. (I think a lot of that has been reading genre fic more too!) I've had such a silly and fantastic reading month and I can't wait for it to continue.
When the Moon Hits Your Eye was the epitome of this. Sometimes a book delivers exactly what you want, with so much thought and humour and in such a well crafted package that it feels tailor made for you. The book is told in vignettes through a lunar cycle where the moon has turned to cheese. It's as bonkers as that sounds, with billionaires in space, feuding cheese shop owning brothers, and a huge cheesey asteroid headed to Earth. I really loved it and recommend it highly if you want a well crafted, funny book.
What's the most fun book you've read recently? by @scho.lydia

This is the first book I've finished reading in a few months. I'm having a rough time, but an unexpected upside of that is discovering the joy of reading series. I've been reading the Rivers of London books for over a year, taking my time. I'm now about to finish the second to last (but False Value is a prettier cover, thus pictured here), which means I'll be caught up to publication.
This is only the second 9 part series I've ever finished (the other being Murder Most Unladylike which I finished at the start of the year). It's been so comforting to know I have familiar characters with new stories to return to.
My plans are to read more series again, especially magic and mystery books. My current list includes diving into the Rick Riordan books primary school me abandoned (I wanna see more of Nico!), continuing Skulduggery Pleasant, trying out Lockwood & Co and popping in and out of Discworld books more often. Middle grade mysteries like Friday Barnes are also definitely on the list, at the insistence of young library patrons who tell me they're fab. I welcome suggestions if you have any! by @scho.lydia

I've been feeling very flat but I went on three excursions this week that have helped me feel like a creative person and have helped boost my motivation to make stuff
In reverse order:
Festival of the Photocopier today, where I met so many cool arty people and chatted about zines in all forms and sizes (including a story in a bottle!)
Amie Kaufman's book launch at Dymocks Melbourne, where I talked with so many YA authors and felt really welcomed into their little communtiy. And @elizabethbourkewriter and I finally met in person!
And at the start of the week, @lucabsteele and I went to scope out the new Rosanna library, with all its gumtree tones and nice shadows.
Heres to art excursions!

(There are simply too many people to tag properly! Apologies!) by @scho.lydia
