24 lbs of bald eagle goodness! This 18 x 28” giant was created for the top eagle rehabilitation doctor in the country… what a job! He provided the slate and gave me full freedom to create a tribute to our national bird. 2 months of on and off work and this was the result. One of my favorite projects to date!

The end of July means the start of holiday orders! I’ll have 25 spots this year for animal commissions and I expect them to fill by mid September. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and grab a spot. Nothing worse than having to turn down a cute little dachshund because I don’t have the space. Sad face emoji.

Celebrate West Hartford. Day 2!! There was a 5k involved… I maybe sorta messed up my ankle. Oops! The prize was a gift certificate to a local diner so I’d say well worth it. @liacruns and I are going to eat ALL the M&M pancakes.

At the show, I caught up with a bunch of old friends and met some new epic humans as well (not all pictured because I forgot…argh). One highlight was being able to pass on some original art to a couple youngsters. So cool talking art with kiddos that create so freely!

Sincere thank you to everyone that stopped by on Sunday to support in one way or another. Those interactions keep the fire burning. Back to work for now… see you all soon.

Celebrate West Hartford!! Day 1. Here are some pics of my friends. Some I’ve known for years, some I met on Saturday. Everyone that stopped by brought a smile to my face (see pics, lots of smiling). So awesome to spend a day meeting new humans, sharing a love for traditional art, and getting inspired to keep on creating. Thanks to everyone that visited big ole booth 31 on Saturday… yall are rockstars.

I am alive and living!! A few exciting developments recently:

- won a race and achieved unc status at the same time
- scored BIG MONEY in slots with Liacruns (+$8)
- found out Moose eats cold hard cash for fun (-$6)
- slurped pickles and flipped nanas with Clark tennis down south
- drew coolness for awesome people
- ran through a giant oompa loompa cloud on the beach
- fought a wild animal
- shivered on the floor of an elementary school bathroom for 10 minutes… woohoo!

What a great time. Some major pieces found new homes and we survived a thunderstorm for the ages… ayecarumba(?). If anyone knows the real spelling for that word please let me know.

Thanks to everyone that came out and supported in one way or another. I always leave these thangs feeling so stoked to get back to work. Life is absolutely bonkerz right now juggling artwork, tennis, running, and now Bills mania(!).

Commissions are starting to stack up for the holidays, so please let me know soon if you’d like to grab a spot. Always honored to create something special for you beautiful people.

Bonkers Weekend!!

Had an awesome time meeting epic people and selling artwork this weekend at Celebrate West Hartford. Always blown away by the kindness and support of everyone walking by. So nice to chat with so many familiar faces, and to meet so many new humans too. I have more commissions lined up than I have ever had at one time before… stoked to get to work!

Started the weekend randomly running a 5k PR and then drove straight to WeHa for the show… talk about a long day. Legs were zonked. Saturday ended up being mega rainy but what can ya do. Sunday was a stunner. Big thank you to everyone that stopped by to support in any form or fashion.

And of course thanks to @liacruns and my family for all the help at the show. Literally might have collapsed on Saturday if it weren’t for you guys.

Okay that’s all, gotta run! Time to buckle up and get drawin’.

Mystic Half Marathon 🐡 2025 edition!

Official time: 1:24:34.
10/1087 overall - 10/497 male - 1/53 20-24

Surprised to finish in one piece and so happy I get to run. My knee was a trooper. Proud of that little guy.

Really great day down in Mystic chatting with like-minded fools, riding physical limits, and putting an entire sis beta fuel gel in my mouth because the top wouldn’t tear off… dumb thing.

Awesome 24 hours with bag-of-pepperoni-on-the-bedside-table owner @liacruns and banana (and honey and all chipotle ingredients except rice, chicken, and cheese) hater @sydneyc01. I will be joining #glittergang next time. For real.

Special shoutout to Belvita Sandwich Biscuits - Chocolate creme flavor for fueling me the entire week leading up to the race. 2/$5 is just too good a deal to pass up. @belvita I am open to a sponsorship deal. I advocate for those little biscuits of joy endlessly.

Time to heal up and start throwing down some long runs for the fall. Sub 3:00 in Hartford up next… I hope. Maybe sub 2:55 but let’s not get crazy.

Essex Steam Train Half Marathon! 🚂🧖

Official Time: 1:26:28, 5th overall

What a day, holy moly. Went into this not really knowing what to expect. I had been training elevation a bunch to prepare for the whopping 891 ft of advertised gain, but otherwise didn’t have much of a plan. My last half was 6 months ago and was such an awful (but wonderful) experience physically, and I think I was just internally dreading that amount of suffering again. Thanks to everyone that put up with me being a quiet and anxious bag of bones in the days leading up to this thang.

The race itself was so smooth… spooky smooth! I kept preparing to really fall off the tracks (railroad pun), but everything stayed together. The uphills felt really strong and the downhills helped to reset my heart rate. The straights were honestly the most difficult because Joe (can’t find him on here but see pic!) was such a monster and I was trying to hang onto his tail. Always good to find a buddy in these races. Started to hurt at 10/11 but at that point it so much more manageable mentally. Really proud of my creeky old legs for this one. Onwards to Mystic!

Big old enormous thank you to @liacruns, who is becoming a race media specialist and just so happens to be my super supportive awesome girlfriend, who looks extra cute in a beanie. Anyways, look at those pics… insane! Go bean. Pumped to run with her and a bunch of other amazing humans in a few weeks, including Joe and Cameron from today! Going to be an absolute party.

Big Kitties!

Finally wrapped this one up yesterday. Playing around with pencils and chalk and fancy papers that cost an arm and TWO legs… looking at you @pastelmat_clairefontaine. But man is it fun to work on. It’s the Lamborghini of papers.

Created with @blackwing matte pencils (the Cadillac of pencils) and the oh-so-reliable, crazy efficient work horse Primo Blanco charcoal stick (the Honda Civic of charcoals).

Will have this up and on display… possibly for sale… at shows this season. I just love the timeless feeling of white highlights on toned paper. I you enjoy it too. by @schweitzerstudios

Art vs. Artist 2024!

What a year! Man oh man. Can’t believe I get to make a living creating and selling illustrations. That’s bonkers. Thank you to everyone who supported this wild journey in 2024, whether that was buying an original slate drawing, commissioning a piece for the holidays, or offering words of encouragement online or in person. Those little reactions mean so much. Mmm. Thank you.

2025 is going to be a big year. I’ll be applying to a few new, ambitious shows and will be leaving the state for a few of them. I’ll spend January and some of February taking on the last seven commissions from this year. After that, it’s all show prep until April. Building up the inventory with supa cool originals on slate and some highly detailed work on paper. Thank you to those that ordered personal commissions and were alright with a January or February deadline so I could work on holiday orders.
