Before our trip to Japan this autumn, Shinichiro Ikeda and I are hosting a mini duo show & listening session for Emptyset II at SchwipsBar in Berlin!
For the opening, there’ll be a 30-minute live listening session by Shinichiro Ikeda @shinichiro__ikeda (donation-based).
Art pieces, frames made by @erina.mori0228 , and cassette tapes will also be available for purchase.

After months of dreaming, planning and cooking…

Kimama is finally becoming reality. 💛

From 04.08 to 23.08, I’ll be opening my very first pop-up in Berlin Mitte.

It will be a place to slow down, enjoy homemade food, fresh juices, cocktails and Japanese-Brazilian inspired comfort food.

Whether you stop by for lunch, an afternoon coffee or an evening drink, I’d love to welcome you.

Nach traditioneller japanischer Definition wird für echten Matcha nur Vollschattentee verwendet, und nur das Blattfleisch (Tencha) findet Verwendung. Da der Begriff aber nicht geschützt ist, können auch einfache Grünteepulver aus unbeschatteten Tees oder Halbschattentees als Matcha vermarktet werden.

Gemahlene Tees oder powdered teas sind alle Tees, die nicht beschattet wurden. @postcardteas nennen diese Tees „stonerolled teas“. Großartiger Name! Und: geschützt! ☝🏻
In meiner Masterclass in der @schwipsbar am 30.5. nehmen wir uns fünf sehr unterschiedliche gemahlene Tees vor: Hojicha, Genmaicha mit Maulbeere, Gyokuro, Oolong und Black Matcha. Was verändert sich durch das Mahlen? Wie verhält sich Textur und Aromendichte?

Kakuzō Okakura unterscheidet in „Das Buch vom Tee” drei Stadien des Tees: gekocht, eingeweicht, gerührt. Matcha ist für ihn weniger ein Produkt als eine Zubereitungsart.

Wir verkosten zusammen die jeweils „eingeweichte“ und die „gerührte Version.

· Hojicha — @yoshien
· Oolong — @postcardteas

Dazu Wagashi, Süßigkeiten aus Reismehl, die mich an meine Zeit als Schülerin der Ueda Sokō Ryō-Teeschule in Hannover erinnern. Das war nämlich immer meine Rettung nach zwei Stunden Teezeremonie. 😉

We are very happy to welcome @christineboerschsupan and @phillipstaffa at Schwips Bar. Their artworks will accompany us in the next months - from dropped Ice Cream Cones to documentations of Kissing the Ground in various places.

Both visual artists, composers and musicians their works range from wall sculptures to painting, and deal with the beauty of the everyday and the beauty of the overseen. An ode to life in manifold ways.
