Progress photos of damn near 5 years apart exactly. Left: February 25th, 2021Right: (Today) February 19th, 2026In the last photo: I was 26 years old compared to the current progress.Left: Severe lower back pain. Depressed. Right: Pain Free. Thriving on the material plane. Relationships. Career. Mental health. When words can’t express the amount and type of work put in. A picture does a pretty damn good job. I of course have more work to do with my right side, and curvature of my spine. But am really proud of my progress.I was sent the last photo by my mom the other day. 8 years apart, and I look like a completely different person.Things that have improved: No longer in any pain. I make as much money now, as I did as a civil engineer, and work maybe 20% amount of hours. I have a brotherhood and a tribe around me that is unlike anything out there. I live in a dream location and home. I have a new acting career that and get to experience having my cake and eating it too. What had to change: relationship with alcohol. My relationship with food. The modality in which I engage in to improve my body. Humbling moments of behavior that didn’t support myself or the people around me. Incredibly difficult conversations in romantic relationships. Learning to handle conflict. Leaving what I thought was my dream job of cooking at the time. Actually slowing the fuck down. My relationship to nature, god, sky daddy. My relationship to values and masculinity. Saying no. The list could go on. But it was not a linear “easy” path, nor is it close to being over. It was life, and what happens when making decisions towards living as me, not what I thought I wanted to be, or the absence of struggle. Instead Applying the correct drivers and variables specific to me. And experimenting.If you’ve read this far and haven’t looked into @movement.by.design to experience it for yourself. I know I’ve been posting in my story, but wanted to share a few favorites of my updated headshots with @keatingstudio. Laced within these photos is the experience of a lifetime, and a representation of what doors open in life when you least expect them to. I went in with the simple want to experience a new photographer when it came to headshots. And walked away with lifetime recognition, lessons, and connections worth their weight in gold. I view these photos as a celebration of my hard work. There were many vulnerable moments within the shoot that held up a mirror for where I was even just two months ago, let alone a year, or even further in the past. That 7 year old me would be in awe. I’m grateful for all of those with a hand in my journey, but it is a really hard practice to celebrate myself. I’ve viewed being humble and making others feel included or praised more worthy qualities than being just stoked on myself. So these photos ironically represent personal success, and personal growth. Taking a moment to pause in between it all. To take account. And I absolutely love these photos. They also scare the fuck out of me cause these photos alone are blowing open doors to opportunities I’d never thought possible, rewriting my whole belief system. And the stress of expansion is still stress. I hope anyone that has read this far down experience even a sliver of what happened before, during, and after these photos. An experience beyond the captured moments. I was recently asked if I was going to have separate accounts. A movement, and an acting account. To me I don’t need a separate account right now, because it is more about my experience as a sum, rather than marketing aspects of me. Cause if anything I’m a practitioner…not a trainer, a coach, nor an actor. Someone who practices what I preach.The moments photographed were BTS from the first days shoot of “Love’s Last Shade” created by @josh_ulmer. This day will forever be etched into my memory creating with @osnapitsdylan. Because there was a really big shift in my process.What the scene asked for was falling in love. And I had a lot harder time doing so in the moment than I had expected and practiced. In fact I wasn’t able to depict at all initially.Rattled with self doubt, and teetering on the edge of self implosion, I was given a moment to be with the stress occurring. And the stress revealed I’d never truly been in love. I’ve never opened myself up enough to do so. In the midst of an existential crisis, I was able to move through the scene because I came at it from a place of curiosity.But there was a very intense ripple effect from this experience. With the help of the people I have in my life, particularly @jonxdesign, I was able to understand that an experience can elicit a stress similar to being in a really difficult corrective exercise. Both lead to the possibility of realization of a limiting belief. A trauma. A blind spot. An energy leak. Whatever you wanna call it. And was able to come back and crush it the next shooting day.So acting has become a place much similar to the movement aspect of my practice cause it’s a container to look a bit deeper.Acting is still is my creative outlet that balances my work life, but it has now revealed the importance of experiences eliciting a trigger or response in the pursuit of being authentic. Strengthening my relationship and desire to keep acting. Cause while yes it has fallen in my lap. If it’s correct for me, & the experiences are correct for me, I’ve come to realize that it’s something I’ve wanted all along. But have been too afraid to admit it. by @scott.x.design
