your environment can influence you, but it doesn’t define you. Take advantage of the opportunities in front of you and choose your future.

That’s what we want our mentors pouring into the next generation. #MentorshipMatters #LIT @leadersintraining23 by @scottiejack4

This is bigger than just showing up for an hour every week. I told our mentors, these young people are watching you. They’re listening to you. The conversations you have with them and the example you set can literally shape how they see themselves and what they believe is possible for their future.

We’re getting ready to go into these schools and pour into the next generation. That’s the mission. Develop leaders who develop leaders.

Got the mentors together today to connect, network, and get ready for another year of mentoring. We’ve grown every year and I’m excited to see what year 3 brings.

Next stop, the schools. Time to get to work!

Literacy matters!

3rd grade is a FOUNDATION year. This is when reading starts to impact almost everything our kids do in school.

And just like sports, you don’t get better without REPS.

Read. Read again. Then read some more.

10–20 minutes every night. Make them read out loud. Ask them questions. Then come back and do it again tomorrow.

Reps. Reps. Reps. 📖

The more they read, the stronger they become. The stronger they become, the more confident they become.

Make them kids get those reps in! by @scottiejack4

Three years ago, Leaders in Training started with 11 mentors.

Year 2: 35 mentors.

Year 3: 53 mentors.

On September 14th, we officially begin Year 3.

For the next 17 days, I want to share more about this journey—why Leaders in Training exists, what we’ve learned along the way, the challenges we’ve faced, the wins we’ve experienced, and the vision for what we’re building next.

Because the goal was never just to create another mentoring program.

We’re to building something sustainable.. something that continues creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and investing in the next generation year after year.

Over these next 17 days, I’m simply asking you to follow the journey, share the story, and if you believe in what we’re building help us continue building it.

53 mentors.
Year 3.
17 days until we get to work.

Day 1 starts now.
