Ever wondered why giant gears are hanging over Progress Park?

They’re believed to be remnants of Dogpatch’s industrial past, possibly connected to the old Tubbs Cordage Factory. Buried for decades, they were unearthed during excavation for the Millwheel development in 2009 and given a new home in the park.

This video tells about The Gears that are displayed on 23rd street in Dogoatch’s Progress Park.

The 25th Street Greening workday was a big success. The Green Benefit District (GBD) and our talented volunteers placed 9 new planters with native plants to beautify what was once a neglected block. The GBD is responsible for countless green areas throughout Dogpatch and parts of Potrero Hill.

We had a great day at the Lucas Museum in Los Angeles. Besides Star Wars stuff there was amazing narrative art by such great artists at Banksy, Norman Rockwell, HR Geiger as well as anime, architecture, photography and an absolutely beautiful building. Don’t miss it!
