Words cannot even begin to express my thanks for all the people who came to my going away party at Grapevine Faith. I am so blessed and it is because of all of you. 20 years of productions involving hundreds and hundreds of students, parents and amazing production teams were just the best job anyone could ask for! I will miss everyone so much. But I’m so grateful that we’re going out on a big high. You will always be in my prayers. Thank you to Ashley, Carolyn, Patrick, Shelly, Steve, and Billy for throwing such a fun party. Remember, you are made in the image of Christ. You’re worth is based in Christ alone. Love you all very much, Mr. Werntz.

What a very special night this was. I was invited to dinner with Wes and Ann Taylor, and their son David. The Taylor’s were one of the first families I met when I came to Texas 35 years ago. David was in my youth group for the four years he was in High school. Wes and Ann were administrators in the schools in Irving, Texas. Wes was the principal of MacArthur high school, the place where I got to do so much ministry over the years. It was such a nice evening with the three of them. David is now a father of teenagers and has been happily married for many years. God is so good. by @scottwerntz

Had a wonderful time at lunch with Kerry Dove and Denis Kashoid. We have been known as the dream team when it comes to putting on shows at Faith. These are two of the most talented people in the country. I’m so blessed to have them in my life. by @scottwerntz

I am truly a blessed man in that God has allowed me many decades of working with students who love the Lord with such a passion. This eighth grader and I meet every Wednesday for lunch and a time of studying God’s word. This is my good friend Kaige. He came from football practice straight to the party to give me a big hug and to thank me for being a part of his life.
Tonight my school threw a going away party for my transition back to Illinois from Texas and I had the opportunity to see so many from the past 20 years who came back to say goodbye. It was such a. Beautiful night of reminiscing and being so blown away by all the great things that my past and present students are doing in the name of Christ throughout the country and even in other parts of the world. by @scottwerntz

In the award winning Stephen Sondheim musical, INTO THE WOODS, there is a famous line in the finale song that says, “Be careful of what you say, children will listen. Be careful of what you do! Children will see. And learn.”

Recently I read two stories in the Bible about two boys. One boy in the book of Judges, Chapter 16, verses 23 through 30, and the second boy in the book of John, Chapter 6, verses 1-14. Neither boy is mentioned by name. But both boys are pivotal in the outcome of two events that impacted a lot of people.

In the book of Judges, the Philistines are celebrating the capture of their enemy, Samson - the Israelite Judge and Warrior. 3000 people gather to celebrate his capture and to mock him as they praise their false god. They bring their children with to this celebration.

In the book of John, 5000 plus people have gathered to hear and see Jesus. They have no food. Peter, one of the disciples of Jesus, sees a boy walking by with a couple of fish and 5 small loaves of barley bread. Peter points the boy out to Jesus.

Two boys. Two large crowds. One crowd comes to mock and worship a false god. The other crowd comes to hear the Son of God speak. The two boys are put into two environments; One filled with mockery, and one of holy revelation.

I want to encourage everyone to read these two stories to see what happens with these two boys in the environments that their parents had placed them in. One boy becomes a part of destruction and death, while the other becomes a part of physical substance and life.

Be careful mom and dad, grandpa and grandma, teacher, coach, uncle, aunt, neighbor....Children will listen. Children will see. Children will learn. We must make sure the children are in an environment that gives them the opportunities to hear and see God, not environments that leads them to death. by @scottwerntz
