KOC Rnd 4 / Season final

1 weekend, 3 bikes and a bunch of fine people.

Felt at peace on the R3, maybe to peaceful. Second race of the day having my personal favorite race so far, the bike told me to stop, snapping the intake camshaft and ending the day.
Wabam, not so fast, the days not over. For the final race Anson lent me his R3. With a different setup to what im used to I was happy to just get out on the track and finish the final race of the season. Cheers @ansonhja

Final race weekend was also a good chance for me to make that next step up and hop on over into a bucket. During the qualifying, I found out they can pop off the gear selector, leaving me stranded in fourth. Sorted it out by the second race. Thanks to the other bucket fellas who knew the issue before I pulled into the pits. This let me race with one of my idols Ryder for the final race before he left me for dust in the final lap.

As its the end of the season I wanna thank everyone and anyone that made it to the track, organized the days, volunteered and and just came out to have a good time. We appreciate that.

2025 Greymouth street races

As the weekend has been and gone, I wanted to make a quick post thanking everyone that came out to Greymouth to watch, support, help out and brave the weather even from back home watching the live stream.

Coming into the weekend we expected it to rain all day which it did not disappoint, but not for it to dry up after lunch.

I was a little nervous going into qualifying trying out the combination of new wets and not racing here last year. Good to see plenty of new comers with a total of 28 riders in my class of F3 making for a tricky first few laps.
Qualified in P6.

Race 1 was was a proper wet race. After a tight start and a couple laps of getting used to the racing pace I became more comfortable in the wet and pushed my braking markers. Chasing down Jethro I sent a late brake into turn 5 (hairpin) on lap 3 taking 5th and holding on to the end.

Race 2 after lunch, the track was drying out but still damp in places so everyone opted for wets.
After a poor first 2 laps I was busy battling with the bigger bikes of F3, out braking into the roundabout and everywhere else I could keep my place. I then did myself dirty and went to deep into turn 1 and hairpin dropping positions and eventually coming away in P6.

Race 3 and now time for slicks. A good launch put me towards the front into turn 1. A couple laps go by and I was watching the front 3 dissappear slowly as I didn't quite have the pace. I still had a battle on my hand for 4th place against Harriet, swapping places a couple times I was then 4th into the final corner on the last lap. Unfortunately the rider in front crashed out and so did the rider behind me. Red flag was raised once they realised the situation of the crash, it was a very unusual incident and something I hope to not see in the future but it's always hard to predict everything. The results went back to lap 3 minus the DNFs. That put me into P3 for the final race and overall P4 in my class for the day. Congratulations Garth for winning F3.

NZSBK Rnd 4 Teretonga
Opening lap onboard my slow ass

Quick recap from the weekend.
Started out racing on the track then decided to go off roading, made some close overtakes only to be left in the wind down the straights, bumped elbows, maybe even a brake lever, didn't crash and set a couple new PBs.

Overall a good 4 days of escaping the usual work life, some racing, sleeping in the trailer and testing out how my car goes 4wd (or not going 4wd).

Bit of a break now before I head back up to the north island for the final two rounds of the NZSBK series.

King of Ruapuna Rnd 1

Not the way I wanted to start the series. Set of in qualifying with a good starting time of 1.46.68s and fealing strong.
That didn't last long.

Went into the first race of F3 making it all the way round to dipper on the first lap before coming of the track, snapping my chain and locking up the rear wheel. Unfortunately I was aimed back onto the track and before anyone could react I clipped @samracing99 rear tyre sending him of his bike (shity fealing causing a crash) and ejecting myself of in a high side destroying my rear swing arm.
Adding to the drama of the first lap of the first race, Sam and I looked up to see ya boi @isaac_waldron_22 one turn later in the wall. Race was then red flag and everyone had an early lunch before anyone had a full race.

And that's where my day ended. After trying to fix the bike to get back out and failing because of the swing arm, I ended up in the sidelines watching the rest of the races.

On top it all that was the first race where my mum came out to watch, didn't help her already being anxious about motorcycles.

Finished my first race series yesterday at KoL and took an overall 2nd in FIII and not far of podium spot in SS300.
Happy with my progress so far but ready to keep on improving my self to take the #1 spot.
Thanks to all who've come out for a watch and the other racers for putting on a good fight.

"I can't own nice things"
One season with the R3, it's still running and I'm not broken, ill take that as great success.

Safe to say that racing is pretty much the only thing I talk about now and I'm Ay OK with that. This first year has been a blast that's shown me a small insight into being a 'racer'. I've learnt a little bit of what my R3 can do on the track (to go faster just ride faster) and how to prepare for a race day (bring spares for when you crash).

Happy to share the race days with all the pit crew members, the spectators that show up and the post race shit chats.

With 3 months and nearly 10 races coming up, I'm expecting to be broke, exhaust, setting a few PBs and be known only by people around me as the guy that rides motorcycles and does nothing else.

Started the year off with two full on weekends of racing.
A couple of electrical problems, one crash and a new PB of 1.48.079.
Had some fun with competition throughout every race which made it interesting, a couple close calls and apparently made contact as well
