Back into racing for the first round of KOC.

Starting with a pretty damp morning, qualifying still had plenty of wet patches, so I knew I had to take it easy. Put down an okay lap and qualified P8.

Race 1 and 2 went pretty well. Race 1 started with cold tyres after a lot of waiting around before the race start. I managed to get a good start in both races, but after reviewing the livestream, I realised I wasn’t committing enough into Turn 1, which cost me positions right at the start of both races. There was also some very strong wind throughout both races, so I had to figure out new braking points for a lot of the corners. Had some good battles and finished P8 in both races.

By Race 3, the wind had died down. I still got a good start but once again didn’t commit enough into Turn 1. I made a few mistakes throughout the race as I struggled to readjust my braking points with the change in wind, but overall it was a pretty good race and I finished P8 again.

Three P8 finishes to start the KOC season, with plenty to take away and work on for the next round. Photo cred @zayna_anzelc David tombs📸

BEARS 11 May
Stunning day, and happy to be at the track with my favourite people☺️
BEARS created a new race group for all types of bikes under 400cc. Great news for us riding yamaha R3s!

It was an interesting day, with a lot of red flags in the morning practices! After a bit of confusion, the grids were up and I qualified P1.
Due to the events of the day, the races were then to be 4 laps instead of 6... bit of a bummer but happy to be out there anyway!
Race 1: Pretty average start which led to the first couple of corners jostling before breaking away. I really enjoyed being able to put some laps in at the front, and came away with the win!
Race 2: Below average start which meant I got stuck behind another rider for the first lap before breaking away and pulling an 8 second gap behind me by the end of the race, coming away with another win!

A positive day on the bike, and beat my previous pb every lap of racing! New PB: 1:45.18
Felt really comfortable and consistent, and definately felt like there was more in the tank for pace!

Looking forward to progressing more with the team.
Massive thank you as always to Rod and the team for all the support and effort that goes on to get us out on the track!
