The latest custom build from Giovanni Mariani from @gm.motorcycles is a 55hp, two-stroke Kawasaki KX250 wrapped in an almost alien-like, hand-formed aluminium monocoque. It was built on one side of the world for a motorcycle waiting on the other. And after eight years sitting dormant in Milan, this 1999 KX250 hasn’t returned to spend its life on a show stand. The three brothers behind @classicbike_raisch have spent plenty of time riding supermotos on racetracks, and when BMW released the new R 12 G/S, they saw something rather different from the retro enduro everyone else was looking at. Rather than add kilos and build another average adventure bike, they got trim and technical, turning the big boxer into a proper Supermoto.

Launched in 2006, Triumph’s first modern Scrambler was always a motorcycle with one foot planted firmly in the past. Its high pipes, spoked wheels and stripped-back styling evoked the Triumphs that once tore across the Californian desert, but underneath sat a road bike far happier cruising the highway than hammering through a hundred miles of Mojave whoops. Utah-based racer and @altr_moto founder Tyler Condie decided to find out just how much of that could be changed without throwing away the motorcycle Triumph had built in the first place. Meet the 2012 Scrambler, built on a budget, destined to win trophies and conquer the harshest of environments.

When we last caught up with Francisco Menezes and the @holymolymotorcycles crew, they were deep into developing their plug-and-play retro kits for the Yamaha Ténéré 700. But Holy Moly started out building complete custom motorcycles, and after four years focused on the T7 platform, Francisco wanted to return to those roots. The result is the XT700, a machine that imagines what a modern Yamaha XT might look like if it were built around the Ténéré 700. Photos by @scrambler_ams

The best custom bikes don’t start with a paint scheme, they start with a problem worth solving. For Essex-based @poulsoncreative, that meant taking Triumph’s Scrambler 1200 XC and pushing its off-road capability without sacrificing the soul that made it great. The result is The Jackal: a beautifully executed custom packed with clever fabrication, in-house craftsmanship, and one seriously clever engineering trick.

Before a single layer of fibreglass was laid, @moritz.bree and his friend Anton shaped this motorcycle by hand from a lump of clay. They refined its proportions until it looked right from every angle before committing the design to fibreglass. In an age where CAD models and 3D printers dominate the custom world, the pair opted for one of the oldest industrial design techniques in the book. The result is a street-legal KTM EXC 500 that looks less like a modified enduro and more like the factory flat tracker KTM somehow forgot to build. 📸 @scrambler_ams

There are hundreds of beautiful custom BMW Flying Bricks, but most of them begin with an angle grinder. So when BMW specialist @sportevolution.de decided it wanted a production conversion kit for the K-series, it handed the brief to one of Europe’s sharpest motorcycle designers. Instead of building another one-off custom, Jens vom Brauck of @jvb_moto set himself a far harder challenge: create a BMW K100 that looks custom, bolts together with minimal effort, and stays road legal.

When @harleydavidson announced the Creators Custom Clash, the brief was beautifully simple: six European content creators, six authorised dealers, six stock motorcycles and complete creative freedom. The result is a snapshot of modern custom culture, with each build reflecting the personality of its creator. Our friend @arjanvandenboom of @ironwoodcustommotorcycles chose the Harley Street Bob and turned it into a tyre-shredding Street Tracker appropriately named Pink Savage.

Some of the best motorcycles are never really finished. They evolve alongside the people who build and ride them. @piercitycycles BMW R nineT is the perfect example. We first featured the bike back in 2017 as a black flat tracker that announced the British workshop’s arrival. Nearly a decade later, it returns wearing shimmering metallic blue paint, gold wheels and the name Étaín – a figure from Irish mythology renowned for transformation and rebirth. Few motorcycles have ever earned their name quite so completely.
