This time of year is a good opportunity to process material left from summer clearance, tree work and estate management before the wetter months set in.

Our Albach chippers can be brought directly to site for contract chipping, giving estates the option to process timber where it sits and keep the finished chip for use across the estate.

Not every clearance site is easy to reach. ✅

On this private ash dieback removal, access was difficult, so our Albach’s off-road capability allowed us to take the chipper to the material rather than work around the location.

With tractors on turnaround, material could be processed and moved as the job progressed, helping keep the project moving quickly and the site under control.

Our 5.2 MW Kohlbach biomass boiler forms part of the in-house energy system we’ve built and developed at SDL.

It produces heat for the wider operation, while our engineering team monitors, maintains and services the system around the clock.

It’s one of those parts of SDL most people never see, but it plays a big role in keeping everything running. ✅

Our self-propelled Albach chippers are available for contract hire and subcontracting, with a minimum hire of 3 hours.

With an infeed of just under one metre, they are built for quick, high-volume processing across estate management, site clearance and biomass works.

This is what pellet production looks like behind the scenes. ✅

Inside our plant, hot water is moved through a controlled circuit and fed into heat exchangers, with cooler water returning back through the system.

That heat is then used to dry material ready for pellet production, linking our CHP system directly into the way we make wood pellets at SDL.

Heat captured. Material dried. Pellets produced. 🔥

Self-propelled, operated by experienced SDL staff and fitted with an infeed of just under one metre, they can process large volumes of timber and brash where the material is already located.

The finished chip can remain on site for biomass fuel, tracks or another planned use. Material removal can also be arranged through our HGV fleet where needed. 🌲
