Jolly Pines is what happens when a farmer and a fuel man have an idea.

Sam at @sdlsolutions and @cooper_kaleb at @kaleb_cooper_contracting_ltd started it with one question: why does a real Christmas tree have to end up in a lay-by?

So every tree we deliver, we collect in January. It gets chipped and burned for renewable heat, so the tree in your front room finishes the winter keeping somewhere warm. No lay-by, no landfill, no tree on the pavement.

One van on a planned round replaces a street's worth of car trips to the garden centre and back, twice, with a tree hanging out of the boot.

And every tree comes from a British grower. The money stays with the people who grow trees here, and your tree hasn't crossed a sea to reach you.

Delivered. Collected. Recycled. That's the whole idea.

An excellent combination for safe and efficient forestry work: a forwarder equipped with a GMT grapple saw. 😍

The Komatsu 855-3 forwarder, owned by @sdlsolutions of Chipping Campden (UK), is fitted with a GMT050+ grapple saw and a GMT C10 quick coupler. 💪

Thanks to the plus system on the GMT050+ grapple saw, the tilt mechanism to be locked, allowing the sawn timber to be removed in a more controlled manner. The C10 quick coupler makes switching between the GMT grapple and the standard timber grapple simple and efficient. 🎯

@fieldandforestmachinery, our dealer in the United Kingdom, delivered and installed the setup on site at Komatsu Forest UK Ltd. 🔧🤝

✨ Work Day Highlights! ✨

On Monday 23rd June, our @deancloseschool pupils swapped the classroom for the workplace, taking part in a brilliant day of hands-on experience across a variety of industries – from law and engineering to marketing, consultancy, healthcare and more.

Pupils gained real insight into the world of work – shadowing professionals, asking thoughtful questions, and even getting stuck into real projects. Their reflections speak for themselves:

💬 "Really friendly and very open to answering all questions with thorough detail, good showcase of the engineering world"
💬 "Very interesting and cool to actually be able to see and walk around half dismantled aircraft with real world examples of what they are doing"
💬 "I will definitely use the skills I learned today. They will help me throughout my future, no matter what I choose to do."

We are so grateful to the many businesses who opened their doors, and to @sdlsolutions for capturing their pupils’ experience so brilliantly in this reel. You’ll also spot a few photos on our story from other placements – a fantastic snapshot of a truly inspiring day.

🌟 Feedback from hosts included:

“Both students are a credit to Dean Close School and they both have very bright futures ahead of them.” – Paul Dymond, Amwins Global

“Lovely students, very engaged and interested in what we have talked about.” – Lucy C Webley, Midwinters

“Well-mannered and polite… I’m sure they will go far in whatever they decide.” – Stuart Sinclair, SOCOTEC

Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success.

If your organisation would like to get involved in Work Day 2026, we’d love to hear from you!

Some days in the field are just built different.

300+ miles.
Three sites.
Forestry in North Wales, sawmill in Newport, and a CHP plant in the Cotswolds.

All in one day with our brilliant client @sdlsolutions

We’re proud to work with businesses like SDL who don’t just talk about sustainability, they live it!

From forest to future, they run a zero-waste, vertically integrated operation that turns every part of the tree into something useful, including renewable energy.

🎥 PRonto Marketing – marketing that moves.

♻️ Turning waste into resource - the sustainable way ♻️

Today we worked with the brilliant team at @sdlsolutions - helping us to continue making forward thinking choices in a traditionally waste heavy industry.

Rather than burning waste left over from our manufacturing, today we have recycled it locally. Low environmental impact and a cleaner, smarter way to manage waste wood 🌿
