Welcome to the future of fast food 🌱

With multiple locations across San Diego and beyond, @plantpowerfastfood ⁠ has a menu that hits pretty much every craving from breakfast to late-night.

Did you know San Diego has an all-vegan grocery store? 👀🌱

@sandiegoveganmarket is my favorite spot to stock up on both local and national vegan products from cheeses and plant-based meats to drinks, snacks, pantry staples and everything in between.

They also have a really good deli with made to order order food, plus grab-and-go sandwiches and other options when you need something quick.

🥪 Deli with made to order order + grab-and-go food
🛒 Mix of local and national vegan brands
💰 Prices are generally on par with larger grocery stores
🚗 Free parking lot on the side of the building
🍪 Very close to @mayascookiessandiego
✨ Owner Sunny is incredibly friendly
🧀 They often host tastings featuring new and local brands

I love being able to discover smaller vegan brands here while also getting the staples I already know I love! And shopping here means supporting a local vegan business instead of giving all your grocery dollars to the big guys.

“If there is a waterfall, then there’s a secret behind it”

Welcome to @enterthroneroom , a medieval fantasy world hidden inside @barkindred ⚔️🕯️

THRONE ROOM is a cocktail chamber tucked inside KINDRED, but walking inside will transport you to another space and time. Dark passageways, waterfalls, chainmail curtains, candlelight, a custom dungeon synth soundtrack playing in the background (by local musician @drewandrews ), and a menu that literally comes as a scroll.

Even the tiniest details are intentional, all the way down to the bathroom faucets. The space was designed by @basile_studio and has been nominated for the 2026 San Diego Architectural Foundation Orchids & Onions People’s Choice Award.

The cocktails are just as experimental as the space, so come ready to try something different rather than ordering your usual. Drinks are served in chalices, naturally. Everything we had was completely unexpected, and obviously we got one of every food item AND extra bread.

And yes, everything is vegan! 🌱

The experience is 90 minutes, which gives you just enough time to take in the details, try the drinks, sneak a peek at the bathroom, and enjoy the atmosphere. They are in their 10th and final week of their soft opening, so make a reservation when you can.

Finally made it to @plumeriaencinitas 🌱

I’ve been to their University Heights location MANY times, but this was my first visit to the Encinitas location! And wow, the space is beautiful. Right on Coast Highway 101, with warm lighting, purple curtains, and a cozy plant-filled outdoor patio.

Plumeria started with founder Patty Thongchua’s family recipes from Thailand. Her Thai home cooking was reimagined into a plant-based menu without losing the bold flavors of traditional Thai food. Their curries are made from scratch with ingredients like galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime and coconut milk, and they use less oil so the ingredients can really shine.

The menu is the same Plumeria menu I know and love: spring rolls, satay, curries, noodles, stir-fries, soups, and plenty of classic Thai comfort food. And don’t forget the mango sticky rice and Thai iced tea.

One note for my fellow vegans: make sure you check the menu labels because a few items contain dairy and/or egg. They also have a lot of gluten free options, but the kitchen is not gluten free (or fully vegan) and they cannot guarantee against cross contamination.

everything we ordered at @peacepiesraw 🌱✨

All raw, gluten-free, vegan, and FULL of flavor. We ordered a little bit of everything because choosing just one thing is simply not an option when the menu is this good.

I recommend eating your meal on their garden patio. It feels like you’ve wandered into a little hidden garden in the middle of Ocean Beach surrounded by plants, tucked away from the street, and quiet enough that you’ll probably want to stay awhile.

Oceanside, THIS is how you do a vegan menu 👏

I’ve been wanting to try @allmine.oceanside ever since hearing about their new vegan options, and I’m so glad I finally did because their vegan menu is GOOD.

We tried the market salad, smoked cheese involtini, spaghetti squash and falafel (gluten free!), BBQ Smoke Show pizza, and their current melon gazpacho special.

The melon gazpacho was a standout. Unique, fresh, lots of herbs, and basically tastes like summer in a bowl. Chef Sid said this is a current favorite during this heat wave, and he was right. Make sure to get this one while you can.

One of the things I really like about allmine is that they clearly care about where their ingredients come from and how things are made. They grow a lot of their herbs and greens in their own mini greenhouse, work with local farms, and make a ton of their food from scratch. They are even working on crafting an in-house gluten free dough (hopefully coming soon!).

Their pizza dough takes days, their sauces and dressings are made in-house, and all of their vegan options get that same level of attention and care.

They also feature local vegan cheesemaker @scratchhousesd in their vegan dishes. And trust me, the smoked cheese involtini with their smoked Gouda is a MUST.

This is the kind of vegan menu I want to see more of. Not just a mushroom burger and some cauliflower nuggets (sorry). There’s actual variety here, and the dishes feel like they were created because the kitchen wanted to make something GOOD, not because they needed to check a vegan box.

Save this for your next visit to Oceanside! 🌱

I’ve been avoiding making this post because I really don’t want to say goodbye.

This Saturday, August 22, is @elveganitosd ‘s last day at Grossmont Center.

I first tried El Veganito in 2022, shortly after going vegan, and my partner and I were blown away by how good it was. It quickly became one of our favorite spots for vegan Mexican food.

My forever order: adobada tacos. Extra red salsa. 🌮
My partner’s: adobada fries. And yes he is able to devour an entire order in one sitting because they are that addictive. 🍟

Their hibiscus + jackfruit birria is also SO good. But also, so is everything. And please get a jamaica while you’re there.

Victor and the team don’t have a new location secured yet, but it sounds like the next chapter may be somewhere in North County. So hopefully this is a see you soon, not a goodbye.

It’s busy, so expect a wait. Be patient. And please support them anyway.

Local vegan spots are having a really hard time right now, and losing another one would be such a loss. If you’ve been meaning to try El Veganito, this is your sign.

Go show Victor some love before this chapter closes!
