I remember when she first told me what her deepest desire was, her only wish that never came true. The innocence in her drunken slur when she confessed to me on our fourth ever date, about what she wished for more than anything in the world, made me fall in love with her.
Now, it didn't seem really hard at first and I didn't want to tell her what I was doing. So occasionally I would try to surprise her with it, she always looked confused and asked me what I was up to and I had the worst replies.
When I still hadn't managed to achieve it after a two and a half years together I decided to join the only place I knew that would help me, it didn't seem like a big deal to anyone, but I was afriad that the smallest of moves would out me and she would figure out my plan. But I was lucky, she didn't figure it out, she actually joined me too. The occasional question about why I was doing it and I blamed it on our jobs, "You see I have a more labour intensive job" I said. She didn't buy it, but she didn't bother digging deeper either.
Even our biggest fight was over this because I refused to say yes when she proposed, we resolved our fight when I swallowed my pride and said yes. She was right, I was behaving like a child. I decided that I would finally give her the present on her wedding day
It was on our wedding night, when we stood in front of our mirror, that I decided to surprise her. I helped her out of her gown and she helped me take the 600 pins out of my saree. When she stood up, I wrapped my arms around her and lifted her off the ground. "OH my God, you're lifting me up! You're carrying me! YOU SWEPT ME OFF MY FEET" she laughed after the initial confusion. And I spun around with her just to hear her laugh harder.
my wife had only one wish since she was a child, to be swept of her feet but believed she was too big for it. And it might have taken me five years of a relationship and two years of gym to convince her, but she isn't too big to carry.
