Ok help me fill this out! What books say Fall to you? Keep in mind I like Fantasy, Horror, Romance, Mystery and thrillers. Would like a mix of backlist and new reads.

Popular choices Ive already read include The Scorpio Races, The Raven Boys, Sleepy Hollow, Legends and Lattes and Pumpkin Spice Cafe.

Im not a fan of ambiguous endings or anything too dark where it will make me depressed. Thanks in advance!

My September #readingwrapup with 9 books! If you notice half are mythology/retellings due to my participation in the Magical Readathon. Happily knocked more off my tbr list.

How did you do? Anything you are looking forward to this month?

Swipe for more

Books Read: Wicked Beauty (dark romance) and Radiant Sin Books 3 and 4 in the Dark Olympus series which are mythology retellings set in a modern city.

The Thrashers (YA mystery) I enjoyed this one as a buddy read with @readingwithwrin about a group of popular high schoolers who deal with the aftermath of a student death and bullying accusations. This one was a wild one and had lots of important themes and went in a different direction than I was expecting, a good page turner for sure.

Moss’d In Space (sci fi) This can be considered a cozy about an abandoned sentient alien ship and a former smuggler who just bought it in an attempt to get her ill sister some help off station. I really enjoyed the found family aspect of this one and can't wait for book 2.

Aphrodite Made Me Do It (poetry) a set of poems and short stories filled with artwork about being a woman and all that it entails. I thought this was definitely interesting, check out content warnings for some darker themes.

Three Bags Full (mystery) What the movie the Sheep Detectives was based on. A murder takes place in Ireland in a sleepy seaside town but who would want to kill the simple shepherd? The investigation is taken up by his beloved sheep and we see the story from their POV. Charming and a little sad but I enjoyed it.

Hemlock & Silver (fantasy) A Snow White inspired story where a world of mirrors is possibly hiding a secret about a princess. A poison expert is called in to solve the mystery of this one along with the help of a one eyed black cat and reluctant bodyguard. As a T. Kingfisher fan this one was another hit for me and the scientific research part was a compelling plot point if youre into that.

Lavender House (historical mystery) A completely blind choice I was pleasantly surprised at this little gem of a story. Taking place in 1952 San Francisco bay area we are introduced to a newly fired cop asked to solve the murder of a head of by @sdrosereads

It's cozy mystery season and this one is perfect for it. Look at the adorable cover!

Is it feeling autumnal where you are? In my area it is unfortunately still too warm for fall drinks but technically iced coffees are a year around treat for me.

Thanks to @randomhouse for this #gifted copy.

Murder Bites is a mystery about a transplant from Washington DC to South Carolina. Glenville is a town full of dog obsessed locals trying to get on a reality TV show about couture canines.

Margot does not fit in and after getting caught stealing a neighbor's sign she is labeled the neighborhood pariah. Unfortunately when a dog walker is killed all eyes turn to Margot.

Described as Desperate Housewives meets Best in Show this sounds like a perfect book to add to an October #TBR

A day late...my latest #readingupdate

Just finished Radiant Sin a dark romance thats a retelling about Greek mythology characters. This volume has Apollo and Cassandra and a locked room type of mystery.

Just about to start Lavender House for a readathon. This is a historical mystery described as a queer Knives Out.

Next Up???
Just got Sea of Charms the next cozy installment of this fantasy series from the library.

Buuut kinda dying to get to The Knave and the Moon the conclusion of this fantasy duology that I loved for its Gothic vibes.

What are you currently reading?

Haha just a coincidence. Do you ever theme your snacks or drinks with your reading?

Snax: BTS limited edition Brown Sugar Pancake flavor, inspired by Korean hotteok. They were good, not too sweet and had a crunch in the filling.

Book: Not Good Neighbors a contemporary romance that I enjoyed. New York neighbors have to work together to fix a hole in their wall or be evicted. The banter in this made me laugh and I related to the MC with her conflict avoidance issues. Thanks to @entangled_publishing for the #gifted copy.

I started doing seasonal lists this year, this was the summer #tbrlist I wanted a mix of backlist, romance and books that just felt like summer.

This is also to help when I need a suggestion since I've become more of a mood reader.

Fall starts officially next week, embrassed to admit I only read 1 book off of this list! Hoping my fall tbr will go better...how did your summer reading go?

This fantasy romance featuring winged beasts competing in a magical game has a gorgeous first edition. From the author of The God and the Gumiho!

This looks like a magical twist on the sports romance with rivals to lovers and fake dating tropes. My favorite 😍 Thanks to @randomhouse for the free copy. This one is a chunky one and I can't wait to read it.

Do you think you could ride a magical creature? Did you ever participate in sports?

I am super uncoordinated so no sporting of any kind for me. Watching sports is another matter as someone who had a mostly male relatives.

My August #readingwrapup shows what a good reading month it was with 9 books read. A month that had a good variety, as the year starts to wind down fantasy continues to be my most read but lately mysteries have been moving up.

Lights Out (dark romance)-I actually wound up enjoying this with it’s dark humor and topical themes about nursing burnout, the failures of the justice system and I appreciated how it did not kink shame.

Witch Hat Atelier Vols 7 & 8 (fantasy)- I adore this series and wow if you think this is just a simple cozy you’ll be surprised at how dark it can get.

The Midnight Taxi (cozy mystery)- I enjoyed this “locked room” mystery about a Sri Lankan cab driver in New York City falsely accused of murdering one of her fares.

Hot Girl Murder Club (mystery/thriller)-This was a dark book about a singer who is accused of a string of murders in LA that may tie into the murder of her little sister years before. This had some interesting things to say about media perception and how women are often taken advantage of but it also was about sisterhood and how far those bonds can take us.

Agnes Sharp and the Trip of a Lifetime (cozy mystery)- Book 2 in this British story takes place entirely in a hotel where our group of elderly roommates win a luxury trip and of course bodies start showing up. This one was twisty and had me guessing throughout the whole thing.

Half City (paranormal romance)- Very entertained with the world building of this story taking place half in a world where demons once invaded and half in an academic setting teaching “hunters”. This did feel more NA than Adult but I still enjoyed it and will be picking up the sequel.

Thanks to the publishers for the #gifted copies

@randomhouse
Emily Wildes Compendium of Lost Tales (fantasy) Book 3in this series has become one of my all time favorites full of fun and romance, this time taking place in the land of the Fae and all the magic and horrors that we've glimpsed.

@dellromance @randomhouse
The Book Tour (romance) An overachieving podcaster who has just written her first book when she loses her publicist right before the book tour. She is forced to worl with the grouch by @sdrosereads

Trying to soak up these last days of summer while all you autumn fiends are gathering your pumpkin decor to put up. Admit it!

#Bookhaul sharing another lovely deluxe edition of one of my favorite contemporary romance books. Rival book professionals. Small town versus city. Family issues. Perfect August reading.

Belated #readingwrapup for July books! I actually really enjoyed all of the books this month, I even bought one to have a physical copy after reading an ebook edition.

Mango, Mambo and Murder (cozy mystery) A good one if you also enjoy learning about Latine cuisine and culture.

The Sunset Years of Agnes Sharp (mystery) If you enjoy British small town mysteries with older characters. The residents here share a house and attempt to solve a murder so that they can tie it to the death of one of their own, full of ridiculous grumpy seniors but also commentary on aging.

Tilt (lit fic/thriller) A heavily pregnant woman goes to Ikea to buy a crib and winds up caught up in a city wide earthquake and has to walk home while also looking for her estranged husband. One of those books that makes you think how you would handle things, features a toxic marriage and themes about regret and art.

The Astral Library (fantasy) about a magical library that shelters people in need. I loved this one so much because it was really about the power of reading and the fight against book bans. It is not light about the social commentary on a variety of issues which some might not appreciate instead wanting more of the magical parts.

Thanks to the publishers for the #gifted copies of the following

@randomhouse
Over My Dead Body (paranormal fantasy) A graphic novel about young witches in school attempting to find a missing classmate that ties back to a past mystery. Loved the artwork and plot of this one

@entangled_publishing
#entangledinsiders
Not Good Neighbors (romance) Two neighbors in NYC fight and flirt over a hole in their wall. They can either fix it together or be evicted but it’s hard due to their past dislike and pranks. This one made me smile with the banter, this also touches on toxic relationships, highly recommend.
