Top Takeaways From The Last Three Weeks…

•How Sam and I prepped for tournaments was a bit different..
We took more value in walking the course
after the practice round to really take in hole positions,
attack strategy for certain holes etc..
•Yes, playing practice rounds are important to get a feel for the course,
but we found what helped us the most was walking, visualising shots and talking about the best places to putt from / best areas to miss greens
•By walking the course, we
could solely focus on strategy. Rather than hitting shots, we could fully focus on visualising our game plan

🗣"I can hit the shots they hit, I can hole the putts they hole... they're just the best in the world at doing it, and I'm looking forward to getting a little bit better"

"I haven't been this nervous at a tournament in a long time... I just try to focus on my breathing and smiling and having plenty of chats with my caddy"

Galway golfer Liam Nolan reflects on a memorable weekend at the Amgen Irish Open at Doonbeg, breaking down how he managed the pressure of playing close to home, his partnership with caddy Sean Nohilly, and taking confidence from competing alongside the world's best. by @sean.nohilly

Pre shot routine conversation between caddie and tour pro.
1. Discuss wind direction, this directly impacts where start target will be, and what shot we need to get it to finishing target.
2. Discuss start and finish line, always favour the side of the fairway which leaves the best line into the green/ less consequence of missing the fairway on that side
3. Remind Liam to commit to the shot! This is crucial as right before Liam hits his shot, he’s reminded verbally to commit to the decisions we have made, and to trust the process we just went through.
