-5th place male, 6th overall(out of 250)

I feel so fortunate I have a finish time at all. @daybreakracing literally moved mountains to make this race happen with the grasshopper fire closing most of the original course. They created a really challenging looped course at @mthoodmeadows. Unfortunately during the race the wind shifted early morning as most racers were deep into the race and they made the tough but right call to close the course. Only 11 of us were allowed to finish.

My race went amazing thank you to my dialed crew and pacers: @lolo__renae @7863mtb @stringerphoto @honeyimsure @noahgoodwintraining. I truly couldn’t have done this well without them. Each one of them kept me on task and brought me out of low moments. I had a tough 2nd lap and plummeted to 28th place but we slowly picked runners off all day after I rallied just before picking up Andrew. Then it just increased from there.

Huge thank you to @consummateathlete @peterglassford for molding this mountain biker into a true dual sport mountain athlete. It’s been so fun exploring my limits with his guidance. Also big thanks to @fatboy.rc.pnw crew for all the winter miles and smiles and in race encouragement.

My thoughts are with all affected by the fires and fingers crossed we can enjoy this area again soon.

Gorge Waterfalls 100k and my first ever 100k is in the books!

I had an amazing weekend filled with new and old friends and many many inspiring moments seeing incredible athletes defy logic on all levels of the results sheet.

For myself I had a few goals going in. A goal was to be sub 11 hours and B goal sub 12 but I knew just finishing would be a huge accomplishment. Happy to report I clocked a 11:41 which put me in 5th for masters and 46th overall(out of 400 or so)in an international field! It wasn’t without adversity as any ultra runner will attest and I did have a bit of a knee/IT band issue crop up 2/3 of the way in despite many hours rehabbing this out these past 2 years. Chalk it up to a highly twisty and technical course 🤷‍♂️ but we will pile on some more work in the future!

I was so happy @mike_macneil made it down from 🇨🇦 and I got to hang with the @fatboy.rc.pnw boys and they all had excellent races. One of the biggest highlights for me was being on the front of a fast group shredding the descent to eagle creek and seeing @colehocker hiking! There’s too many pros to geek out over but seeing him and @sethruhling in attendance spectating made my weekend.

When I crossed the line Delores and Julien were waiting for me and I couldn’t help but get choked up(totally unexpected) and then again when I got back to my phone and saw all the messages from friends who were tracking me it happened again! The support was unreal, thank you.

Huge shoutout to @peterglassford and @consummateathlete for getting me there. I was never nervous knowing I had all the right tools at my disposal. And big thanks to @daybreakracing @runfreetrail and @acg for turning our little cascade locks into the center of the universe for a weekend.

Up next Hood Hundred in August and a boatload of alpine days until then!

Special notes: 100g carbs/hr by way of 4L of carb mix and @precisionfandh gels and 3 @never.second caffeine gels, 850mg @redmondrelyte sodium/hour, half a coke and a Red Bull. I wore @mounttocoast T1s @injinji liner socks and a @raide.research belt with @terignota shorts and a @runinrabbit perf tee. taken in Wiesendanger Falls by @sean___bob

Siuslaw dunes 50k done and dusted(sanded?). Got to shake the cobwebs off on my big trail season and couldn’t have asked for a more successful weekend out at the coast! I brought the family out and they surprised me at the aid station pulling crew duties. After 4h44min the racing was still very tight and I ended up 5th overall! Super big thanks to @daybreakracing . It’s amazing how extremely efficient and stress free and professional they make race day. Truly something for every runner at their races. All the high quality photos by @jamesholk . Insanely impressive he’s following us at race pace(or often faster) with big cameras/lenses in tow and getting such excellent photography.

A perfect October day on the Oregon Coast captured on film by yours truly.

We headed out to the beach on a whim to explore Fort Stevens and give Elsie a nice romp on the beach. Shot on my Nikon n55 with a 50mm prime 1.8 lens with portra 400. taken in Peter Iredale Shipwreck at Fort Stevens State Park by @sean___bob

An October day at a cyclocross race caught on film by yours truly.

In October I shot a roll of 35mm portra 400 on my Nikon N55 with a prime 50mm 1.8 gifted to me years ago by @aaron.nett . I shot this whole roll with fully manual settings and it was really fun. This race was the @zone5promotions Columbia cx. Let’s be honest it was a @prepear2dye personal photo shoot because he’s handsome as hell and super photogenic on the bike but I was glad to get some selects of some other local crushers. Unfortunately I only made it for the open elite races but this has me eager to shoot more sports. I’m super stoked to hit a few @harvestcyclocross races this year myself.

I’ve got more on this roll from a family beach trip I’m excited to show you but for now check these out! taken in Frenchman's Bar Regional Park by @sean___bob

Nikita. 2008-2026.

We lost our kita girl this week after a long graceful battle with cancer. Delores said it best “she’s been through it all with us from dumb kids fresh out of college to boring parents”. She was a tough girl from the start, able to handle a standoffish first cat(they became best friends) and two playful dogs(she also tamed them). She was always the top dog. I still remember the day we got her at the Oregon Humane Society. The room was swirling with bad kitty behavior but she was sitting in the middle staring at us with her piercing eyes not moving a muscle. She picked us. And then…she picked Julien. Somewhere along the line she became his cat. This is his first big loss and we are all having a hard time but she lived a very full 18 years. Chin pets and pillow sits forever ♾️ ❤️ by @sean___bob

Part 2 of 2 for 2025. The non running stuff! I still had a lot of bike adventures with familiar friends and trails/roads. Delores and I circumnavigated Mt Hood(one week after I ran Loowit) in 2 days. The fam had a few trips to California including Sonoma and LA. A few big bike highlights were some impromptu mtb shreds in the Gifford and Mt Hood NF and an unforgettable mega day in the MAC forest with the Corvallis crew shredding for 8 hours with way too much pizza mid ride. 2026 will hopefully be more bikes AND runs! by @sean___bob

My 2025 can be summed up in two parts. Stay tuned for part two but this is the part where I absolutely fell head over heels in love with running. I found amazing growth in this new sport but the more important part is meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones in a new way and seeing zones I only dreamed about on the bike. Being on foot is so rewarding and I’m so grateful to have a healthy body to explore in a new and engaging way. I have big plans for 2026 including a few very scary ultra races and I can’t wait to build on this momentum!

Highlights include:
-Boston qualifying on my first try at a marathon
-winning a race??? @bivouacracing stub Stewart trail marathon
-pretty much every @daybreakracing race I signed up for including the lightning canceled backcountry rise
-dipping my toes in high intensity racing with @gobeyondracing Portland trail series
-doing another round of Loowit trail. This time multiple hours faster and much more fun of an experience

In September @andrew_fy myself and mike(does he have IG?) did a full pull hike point to point of the enchantments. It was a highlight of the year for me. I took along a little Kodak half frame camera and finally got the photos scanned. Here’s a small collection! #kodakektar #portra400 taken in Enchantments Wilderness by @sean___bob
