My sweet angel Rex peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday night. He was my best friend and the best dog I'll ever have and I'm heartbroken from his loss.

Rex was a family dog turned my dog in 2017 when my family moved to Boston. The initial plan was for them to take him but I refused to let that happen. Rex and I developed a strong bond and it became clear that we were meant for each other. This was my first time being entirely responsible for a dog and he made that transition extremely easy. He was obedient, intelligent, well mannered and had a captivating aura that would win over everyone in his presence- even people who didn't like dogs. His calm demeanor would radiate through a room and the simplest embrace with Rex could turn a bad day into a good day. He was magical.

In April 2021, I noticed a large, firm growth on Rex's front left leg. It was later discovered that it was cancerous but due to the size and location, it was deemed inoperable and the best course of action would be amputation. Rex was given 6-12 months to live. I never considered amputation an option and took him to a different doctor. She said we would need to shrink the tumor with radiation therapy in order to remove it. He responded very well to radiation and they were able to shrink it and successfully remove it. Needless to say, Rex and I both knew that first vet was full of shit with her prognosis. He made it over 3 years. He had several other medical problems since then but none of that kept him down. Unfortunately, his mobility deteriorated to the point where he couldn't stand or walk for the last two weeks of his life. It became clear it was time.

Rex's final day was painful and beautiful. He enjoyed his favorite foods, had 10 visitors stop by to pay their respects, and took a final stroll through the neighborhood.

Rex's time only occupies a small portion of my life but his companionship will forever occupy a large portion of my heart. Stories of Rex will be told for generations to come by myself, my family and my friends.

Rex now sits atop a throne in doggy heaven, right where he belongs.

Shambhala 2024... this was my 6th year on that magical farm and first time back since 2019. I can confidently say that this year was the best yet and one of the best weekends of my life.

It's extremely special and refreshing to be surrounded by so many beautiful and talented friends, listening to amazing music in a pristine mountain setting. The energy and vibe that's been cultivated on Salmo River Ranch is something that can't be replicated anywhere else on this planet. Anyone who's been would agree. I loved all the upgrades to the stages this year and the secret stages were so much fun to explore.

I got to see my friends absolutely crush their sets, met new friends, and got to reconnect with my beloved Shambs Farmily after half a decade. Love you all more than words can illustrate. My heart is filled with gratitude and my lungs are filled with dirt. See you all next year 🫡 taken in Shambhala Music Festival by @seansilv
