📖✨ CENTER OF THE STORY: Truth Like the Sun

Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair promised a glimpse of the future. In Jim Lynch’s Truth Like the Sun, that glittering moment in Seattle history becomes the backdrop for a story about ambition, reinvention and what happens when the past gets a second look.

The novel moves between the excitement of the World’s Fair and Seattle decades later, following Roger Morgan, a charismatic young promoter of the fair whose carefully told version of history begins to unravel when a journalist starts asking questions.

☀️ Truth Like the Sun by Jim Lynch

Special thanks to our friends at Seattle Public Library for lending us the book for our Center of the Story series, and to the Seattle Municipal Archives for the incredible vintage footage that helped us step back into 1962.

📖 What Seattle story should we find on our shelves next?

✨ CENTER OF THE STORY: We’re getting a little lost…

Seattle Center has been the backdrop for a LOT of stories over the years. Turns out, some of them are literally in books. 👀📚

Welcome to Center of the Story, a new series where we’re hitting the shelves to find books that feature Seattle Center, our venues and the landmarks that make this campus unmistakably Seattle.

First up? We’re following a very good boy. 🐶

In Larry Gets Lost in Seattle by John Skewes and Eric Ode, Larry loses track of his family and finds himself on an accidental sightseeing tour through the Emerald City, including a stop at the Space Needle and Seattle Center.

Naturally, we needed a real-life Larry to retrace his pawsteps.

Enter: Chase (@dash.dog), the goodest boy 🐾💚
Chase graciously agreed to get “lost” around Seattle Center with us, sniff out a few landmarks and generally make this whole series kickoff approximately 100% cuter.

(For the record, no dogs were actually lost in the making of this Reel. Chase’s hooman was close by with treatos as per Chase’s contract.)

A big thank you to our friends at Seattle Public Library for lending us the book and to Chase for helping us turn the first page of Center of the Story.

Head over to the library to explore the stacks. You never know what you’ll find!

Where will the next book take us? You’ll have to keep reading. 📖✨

Our final live event of 2026 is going to get ~dark~ (unlike our always bright partnership with @seattlepubliclibrary, which has made this year’s live author talks possible)! We’re reading Anne de Marcken’s novel “It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over” 🐦‍⬛ I’ve been looking forward to this one all year. Join Anne and me at the Seattle Central Library on October 28 for our conversation (link in bio)!
