An 👁️ for @boris_kollar. @frederiquealbert and I worked together with Boris on the scenography on his latest series of shows ‘Soirée of seams’, for which we decided against a traditional back drop or set, instead to create an engaging tool for discovery and exploration. 40 custom made lights or ‘eyes’ were given out to visitors upon arrival - the audience became the conductors of the show, with their curiosity leading the gaze. by @seb_price

Last day to catch my sound sculpture Continuous Presence 2 at @incognito_art_exhibition - I’ll be at the location until 5pm when it closes - Gyroscoopweg 19. It’s a 15 - 20 minute generative composition running live all weekend, mimicking the form and structure of a fire. On a sad note, Instagram doesn’t allow me to create an ‘audio’ of my audio sculpture due to copyright laws? I don’t know, but perhaps more incentive to come and hear it in person. by @seb_price

having closed the bar at 2, we were up before 6. me, my brother and his friend (who the night before at the bar joined our plan) drove up to Stonehenge for the winter solstice. Theres no parking, so a verge on the a360 worked. we got out there. Traffic’s bad already. “Which way to stone henge” I ask the bright yellow man, “Down that way”. We follow down that way and just when we get to a rotting deer we realise it’s in-fact down the other way. No bother, we hop a few fences. Gotta be quick so we catch the sunrise (what’s the point otherwise?). Turns out there’s lots of fences. Might have broken one. Flood lights on the horizon + a drone guide us to the stones. Decent size crowd. “Not as busy as the summer solstice” my brother says. My old friend is waiting for us there, with his partner and friends. “Which stone are you stood by?” Fruitless question. They’re all big and old. The side away from the sun worked. We touched the stones, watched the dances. Old outfits and new outfits, or, new outfits pretending to be old and others fine with being new. A drum circle started chanting “Freed from Desire” by Gala, Molella. That’s odd I thought, yet it felt more real than the “traditional” drum circles. I don’t think the local pagan-ry had these type of drums back then anyway. Lots of people held ritualistic looking big sticks, flag poles, some representing the authentic and some just trying to take photos above the crowd. Sticks with DSLRs, sticks with GoPros, some sort of transmitter backpack for the TV, everywhere you look there’s eyes up on poles. They looked like a kind of techno-carnyx I thought. instead of bronze on the outside it was copper on the inside, instead of shouting a loud sound from its mouth, it hovered up the sounds and sights and shouted them somewhere else. It was easy to find the heavy presence of technology there off-putting but thinking about it this way made it fun. taken in Stonehenge by @seb_price

A (now 10 year old) project of mine somehow ended up in the latest @bubbleskatemag !!! I made some skate stoppers to highlight the hypocrisy at the heart of development plans for South Bank Skatepark, which were effectively and successfully protested by Long Live South Bank. I wrote a little piece to go along with the issue, about defensive architecture and the polite and quiet oppression of our public space. Thank you to Bubble mag for asking me to be in it. by @seb_price

An impromptu performance of Continuous Presence 2 in a large hall next to this weekends @incognito_art_exhibition - a beautifully in-intimate space for an artwork about distance and intimacy. While I think of it, I’m not sure I wrote about the piece on instagram - here is a bit of my thoughts on it

…The artwork plays with the inability of technology to fully satisfy us, and the discomfort that arises in the moments it nearly does. This effect is commonly observed as the ‘uncanny valley’ in which, the closer replications get to a perfect representation of reality, the further the gulf between the two becomes. Seen in modern CGI with digital human faces, an object that we are very familiar is easily identified as ‘wrong’ in increasingly subtle yet obvious ways. Outside of Hollywood CGI, digital technologies are replicating and simulating other phenomena, including our relationships with friends and family. There appears to me to be a more insidious form of ‘uncanny valley’ created between people when interacting through digital technology, a distance or strangeness thats formed thats hard to identify but increasingly present as more and more of our communication becomes digital…

Should instagram posts have this much text or is voice over better? by @seb_price
