When Aiko was a baby,
he grew out of his newborn hats
and needed something to cover his head.

Just as I had done
when I created
the first beads by seble p(i)eaces,
I used materials left over
from a community creativity session.

The yarn left over
from @phoenix.alkaline’s crochet session
and the spark of remembrance
initiated by her creating crochet pieces for our family
provided the material and asé
for me to create the first crown cap for Aiko.

After more than a year of making crown caps for family,
I’m ready to offer them to the community at large.

With a cowrie shell at the very top,
a spiral of 100% cotton
is uniquely designed to cover and activate our crowns
