Your Guide to What’s Worth Going Back to for Seconds
🗞️Celebrating the many joys of food, travel, wellness, and hospitality.

POSTS STORIES REELS

We’re well into summer, and if you haven’t fully committed to the season yet, consider this your reminder. In this issue, we’re chasing the flavors, destinations, and experiences that make summer worth savoring — from two unforgettable meals in Austin (because the city is officially more than barbecue and breakfast tacos) to the chefs, ingredients, and stories shaping the way we eat right now. We’re checking into a tucked-away boutique hotel in Palma, talking peak-season produce with a chef who knows how to let the garden do the talking, heading below deck with a yacht chef cooking at sea, and sharing a summer recipe you’ll want on repeat for the next few weeks.

Sweater weather is officially here, and so is our fall bingo card: a little inspiration for making the most of the season.

Between now and Christmas, we’re checking off the things that make fall and winter worth looking forward to: baking from scratch, a night somewhere historic, cider sips, and a cozy read by the fire.

Screenshot the card and get three across or five down for a bingo. The center square is free, because going back for Seconds always counts😉

Share your card in your Stories and tag @secondsplsmedia so we can follow along.

It started with a search for the perfect corn tortilla. 🌽

At Maíz de la Vida, Chef Julio Hernandez @julio_lccd has built not just a menu, but an experience around the tradition, history and craft of heirloom corn.

Every dish tells a bigger story about where food comes from and the generations of knowledge behind it. From importing thousands of pounds of heritage corn from Mexico to milling it in-house into fresh masa, the process is just as nuanced as the finished plate.

A well-deserved MICHELIN Bib Gourmand recognition, and one more reason to make a stop in Nashville. The menu changes seasonally, and the lunch menu looks pretty killer, too.

Pastrami sandwich, patty melt, tallow fries, and a crisp Dr Pepper. Say less.

Mr. J’s Original is a family-owned Nashville neighborhood spot serving American classics all day long. We came for lunch, but breakfast is making a pretty convincing case for a return visit.

Consider this one on the list for Seconds. #SecondsPls by @secondsplsmedia

Market hopping in Madrid is a must. 🇪🇸

Three favorites:

📍Mercado de la Cebada
📍Mercado de San Miguel

Just a few of many worth adding to your list… #SecondsPls by @secondsplsmedia

On the Bucket List: @reschio

Tucked into the Umbrian countryside, Reschio is an estate with more than a thousand years of history, set across 3,700 acres of rolling hills, olive groves, and wild landscape. Once a collection of abandoned farmhouses and ruins, the estate was slowly brought back to life by the Bolza family, with an extraordinary respect for its history, architecture, and surroundings.

Today, Reschio feels less like a traditional hotel and more like an exquisitely crafted way of life. Rooms, suites, and restored estate homes are filled with antiques, natural textures, and original architectural details. Days unfold between horseback rides through the countryside, long lunches, foraging, swims in the lake, afternoons at the bathhouse or tennis courts, and dinners surrounded by the hums of the land.

There is no sense of manufactured luxury. Instead, Reschio has an increasingly rare quality of feeling deeply rooted in its place and craft.

Dressed to impress…

Here’s a good argument for eating your greens: chilled asparagus tossed in a tarragon–Dijon vinaigrette, finished with lemon zest, fresh parsley, and freshly shaved Parmesan. Elegant enough for a dinner party, easy enough for a Tuesday.

Picturesque and serene, the newly-opened Tea House Flower Café at Old Tavern Farm is just a quick drive from Saratoga Springs and the perfect place for an afternoon of leisure.

With essentially one thing to order, there’s a reason people have been lining up at Café du Monde since 1862. Those iconic, mountain-high beignets (plus a café au lait made with chicory coffee if you’re doing it right) are swoon-worthy every time.

The beignets arrive hot, pillowy, and buried beneath a snowfall of powdered sugar. Despite the constant crowds, the team keeps everything moving with remarkable efficiency while remaining warm and welcoming.

Some places become famous because they’re good at marketing. Others stay famous because they’re simply that good…
