Happy belated audiobook release day (9/1) to “Dead End Guild Master, Book 1: Unfinished Quests” - the first book in an epic slow burn LitRPG (Literary Role Playing Game) fantasy trilogy written by @marshalcarper, narrated by me (@secretaustinman) for @podiumentertainment and available exclusively on @audible. “Looking forward to a quiet life of teaching, Hans arrives in the small town of Gomi at the foot of the Dead End Mountains. One-pot creamy taco soup (6 servings)

*Highly customizable to use leftovers and/or goodies from your @toogoodtogo.usa bag!* #surpriseseconds

cooking oil
1 onion, diced
1 bell pepper or poblano pepper, diced
1/2-1 lb ground meat (beef and/or turkey)
1 jar salsa and/canned tomatoes, rotel etc.
small can corn, drained and rinsed
small can black beans, drained and rinsed
4+ c broth (chicken and/or beef)
1/2 block neufchatel - room temp!
shredded cheese (optional)
shredded lettuce (optional)
sour cream (optional)
tortilla chips (optional)

In a large dutch oven (soup pot), saute the chopped onion and pepper in a splash of oil over med-hi heat for 5 min or so until it begins to soften (stirring frequently). Add the ground meat and continue to saute another 5 min or so. Add the salsa or tomatoes and saute 1 min or so just to get rid of any raw tomato acidity. Toss in the canned veggies and cook for 1 more minute. Cover with broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook for 15 min or so until corn is soft (you can cover or partially cover, just don't let it boil over). Turn off heat. If desired, you can now stir in the room temp neufchatel/cream cheese to make it creamy (if it's cold it will separate). You can also stir in shredded cheese, or top individual bowls with shredded cheese. More optional toppings: sour cream, lettuce, crushed tortilla chips, etc. 🥣😋 by @secretaustinman

China trip, Nezha the Musical, part 2 - NYC to China week 1: We rehearsed for 2 weeks at Pearl Studios, freaked out about getting our visas in time, then flew to Hong Kong (I won an upgrade bid to Premium Economy!) and took a bus straight to Shenzhen. We spent the first week in a rehearsal location - our rehearsal hotel had a great breakfast and the rehearsal theater was huge! Mini-marts are everywhere, and so is Nezha (the most popular animated character of all time in China). #nezha #shenzhen #newmusical by @secretaustinman

I ❤️ new works! Nezha the Musical is open in Shenzhen China, and I finally have a moment to breathe and post (more non-show China photos soon)! What a whirlwind. Everything happened super quickly and suddenly a group of folks are on a plane from the USA and UK to China! It's been chaotic and jet-lagged but also exciting and rewarding. Dynamic show and great group of people -- including third time colleague (on different shows) @minamiyusui, second time with @Tim_HaeChanLee and @lexipepsi7. Shoutout to casting by Andrea Zee and the creative team @billymitchell @duncan.atkins.5 @su._.bmarine @emmawang.nyc #ewproductions @yayatheatrecompany Joey Parnes and @creativetalentcompany and anyone I forgot!

Happy belated audiobook release day (5/26) to “Bloodfyre” - a fun and thrilling LitRPG (Literary RolePlaying) fantasy book written by L.R. Monroe, narrated by me (@secretaustinman) for @tantoraudio. “Jackson Grey awakens inside Eden, a ruthless system ruled by an unseen Judge, with no memory of how he arrived and no clear way out. 2026 Food Adventure: @michelinguide “Bib Gourmand” (aka “good value”) NYC Manhattan restaurants. #24/48*: Cheli. Location: East Village. Average entree cost: $20. Taste: 8.5/10. Overall experience: 9/10. Late post (I’m months behind on posting). Elegant, flavorful, authentic Shanghainese food, with a focus on braises, stir fries and seafood. Entrees in the $20-$30 range. I went for a late lunch and it wasn’t busy at all, but apparently it gets very busy during peak hours. The environment is elegant and serene, and the service is very warm and gentle. I had a lovely solo experience and would definitely be back to try more of the very flavorful looking menu. I had the stir fried rice cakes and the serving was large and tasty, with a side of pickled veg that was really savory and addicting. 🍽️

*When I started this list in pre-pandemic 2020 there were 63 places; I took a hiatus and the current 2025-2026 list is now down to 48 (many the same, but a few different).
