I usually stick to story work on this account and try to let the art speak for itself, but art itself has been under attack over the last year or two, and I wanted to share my thoughts.

Generative AI, the kind that runs ChatGPT, Midjourney, Gemini, etc is not beneficial to our lives. It has been pushed on every front, with promises that it will make various aspects of life run more smoothly, be more widely accessible, or more convenient. It has done none of these things in any significant way. It is wildly destructive to the environment; forests are knocked down and lakes dried up to build data centers, and freshwater is consumed at a deeply alarming rate. It is becoming nearly impossible to trust anything you see online.. maybe a year ago one could distinguish AI generated images, but it has now nearly surpassed distinction.

Generative AI has taken over colleges, high schools, and universities, being used by students and teachers alike and breeding distrust and terrible work ethic. It has quickly crept into digital and graphic design fields and pushed out real designers in favor of sloppy, generic work. Art and photography contests have been taken over and ruined frequently, and misinformation has spread like wildfire due to the LLMs engrained in search engines like Google. We have traded the beauty and strangeness of human art and effort for an environment-destroying, rapidly advancing enshittification machine.

I can think of no redeemable qualities for GenAI and condemn it entirely.

I am incredibly grateful for the uniqueness, creativity, and community of the people in the Inq28 and larger miniature painting circles I connect with on here. I'm not a particularly "famous" account or creator, but I feel strongly attached to the community here. I see you all in your genuine weirdness and support you. GenAI is only going to get more omnipresent and smothering until it burns itself up, but real art and connection is made all the more valuable in this time. I thank you for your creativity.

The Oprichnine - Kyrylo Svecha

"The Null, the Blank, the candle-bearer. Svecha did not, or perhaps could not speak, but he could communicate by motions and symbols of his hands, and a few of us knew how to understand that. We think he'd trained with the Birdcage, those golden-robed priests in the Thalamus. Not only was he silent, all around him there was a stillness. You stay too close to him for too long, and when you get up to leave, the air itself seems noisy and cluttered elsewhere."

Kyrylo is the eighteenth model of the Oprichnine, and fulfills the role of psychic Blank. I'm very happy with how he turned out. He is armed with a Heavy Gun (4), and has the Birdcage Lord skill (5), and is a Polemire Marrow user. The Marrow and his ranged weapon allow him to deal some respectable damage, but the Birdcage Lord ability is his true focus, completely blocking any enemies within 8" from using their Marrow in any way.

The Oprichnine - Stalryba

"Our pride and glory, the Stalryba! We found her half in ruins, dumped at the bottom of some shaft, and gave her the repairs she deserved. Larkhan added on some weapons and made sure her engines ran right, Svecha set up a little shrine to Saint Thaidakar, and Omar Ostap volunteered to pilot her. She carries all of our necessities out in the field, extra clothes, food, ammunition, and fuel. She's been doing this for a good long time now, but is still running strong-- we even set up a string of all the different groups she's taken down."

The Oprichnine - Emil Zhetej

"Zhetej kept the rear guard. On raids, he followed last, soaking up any stray bullets. We valued him for that. He'd be the first to go, we knew, but it was an honorable task."

Emil is the 26th and final member of phase 5 of the Oprichnine! I put all of his points into extra defence and health. I'm hoping to finish building their tank soon and get painting progress up and running!

I've had some interest in the lore of my custom setting, Caenum28! It's been very enjoyable to develop and I'm happy to share it. I have a far more detailed version of this in a file (more than I could fit on Instagram in this format), and I'm happy to share that with anyone interested.

The Oprichnine - Ognemot Ruus

"Ruus... The leper. He did not fear pain or burning, for he had already been inflicted with a withering of the flesh and weakness of the bones. It was not his hate or fury that drove him forward in fire, but his loyalty and love. He would not be here long, but we valued him greatly."

Ognemot is the twenty-fifth member of the Oprichnine and is equipped with a Flamer (3), and a Fire Weapon (3). He has the Suicide Bomber (4) ability, and Tachyin Marrow, sending him speeding into the fray to take out as many enemy combatants as possible.

The Oprichnine - Alexei Tikhiy

"Tikhey, the trapper. He's been doing this for a long time and knew his work well, passing through unseen in places we planned to ambush, setting foot-traps, tripwires, and other snares. He was often accompanied by his apprentice, young Myltoyl."

Alexei is the twenty-fourth member of the Oprichnine. His bear traps were inspired by a brilliant conversion I saw on the Inq28 page on Reddit months ago, wish I could remember who'd posted it. He is equipped with a Harpoon Gun (5), and Bear Traps (2), and has the Poison Oil (4) ability. This works about how it sounds, allowing him to stab and drag enemies into traps he's laid out, as well as lay traps in terminals and stashes to punish anyone from the enemy team trying to score points.

The Oprichnine - Ggnir Zhelez

"Zhelez was Vyre's executioner, his right hand man.. or right hand blade. Missing his right hand himself, you see. He was very, very loyal to Vyre, and we never saw his face or heard him speak anything but commands from his master to the rest of us."

Ggnir is the twenty-third member of the Oprichnine. He is equipped with a Power Melee Weapon (4) and has the Bruiser (2), and Duellist (3) abilities, as well as Polemire Marrow. This means that once he gets into melee range, he hits often, and HARD, throwing down plenty of attacks with extra strength and speed, while shrugging off enemy hits.

The Oprichnine - Yvette Myltoyl

"Myltoyl was restless, always wanting to get out of the base... Claustrophobic, which was a bad thing to be down here. She has burn scars all over her face, but her vision was fine, so we sent her on scouting runs."

Yvette is the 21st member of the Oprichnine and fulfills the role of Scout. She is equipped with a rifle (2), and has the Signal (3), Ammo Drum (2), and Mechanic (3) skills. She also has Tachyin marrow. Although she doesn't have much in terms of weapons, her marrow paired with her skills allows her to zip ahead of teammates to collect points and power up her friends.

Necrologi - Hephaestus Vhät

"Hephaestus, High Necrologue of the Witherward... He designs our weapons. The Witherward have always been flamboyant killers, using unique weapons that direct concentrated radiation, or elaborate laser systems, or sonic pulses, superheated plasma, or even bizarre weapons that use forms of time dilation to rapidly age and rot their targets.. and Hephaestus designed all of them. We were unsure if he was able to remove himself from his armor, but it certainly didn't hamper his brainpower."
