Today, I finally get to share a project I feel I’ve waited forever to share. Narrating through production what I haven’t been able to narrate through words. What came about the conception of my first solo EP, ‘A Night Was Had’.

Moving a concept I’ve wanted to express for quite some time, ‘A Night Was Had’ chronicles the experiences I’ve had navigating nightlife, in its most joyous & its most intense manifestations, merged into a single night laid out in 4 stages: The Rise (This Is Your Warning), The Peak (Dance at Your Own Risk), The Purge (Think I Had Too Much), & The Release (Euphoria Keeps You Safe).

This project has pushed my understanding & commitment to production in ways I couldn’t imagine nor could’ve imagined this quickly. To everyone who’s listened early on, tested it out at the clubs, played in their mixes, provided countless notes of feedback, I thank you for pushing me to better myself & seeing my potential to do so. I’m very proud of this project & I’m very excited for you all to listen.

Thank you once again to Max Cantrell for beautifully mastering this EP & thank you to my dear Ashton Holmes for lending such a beautiful creation for the artwork.

To have the opportunity to not only witness but to open for my biggest inspiration, my reason, @beyonce for the Renaissance World Tour & to share the stage w/ my king, @sterlingjuandiaz, just leaves me at a loss of words but submerged in gratitude.

First, giving thanks to the one & only, @sterlingjuandiaz. I wouldn’t know where I would be or if I would still be if it weren’t for you. Thank you for believing in me & never allowing me to stop believing in myself. When I play w/ you, as you said, it feels like home, a ceremonious dance of liberation, love, & safety. Whenever I’m in your presence I know it’s ok to exhale & I felt so comfortable amidst the thousands with you by my side. I couldn’t have imagined sharing this stage with anyone else. And we sure tf looked GOOD while doing it!!!!!

A special S/O to @telfarglobal for dressing us head to toe for the night & my loves @aldoaraujo & @un.antojito for styling us. We felt sexy, we felt good, & we owe it to y’all’s generosity for sharing your beautiful creations & visions with us!!!!

S/O to @glossier for the fab beat! I felt so angelic, so kunt, & so so pretty!

To my girls, my family, my ROCKS @itsjewelfriday , @aldoaraujo , @un.antojito , @saileywilliams , @christoferluis_ , @moooaliiii, @st.grnt I’m so proud of US. We moved as a unit & we held eachother down every second of the day. Sharing this experience with y’all was everything.

To @saileywilliams you are the blueprint. Thank you for documenting this day for us & capturing us in such a grandeur that only you know how.

To @parkwood, to @amakadsi, y’all were phenomenal. THANK YOU for seeing us & inviting us. So welcoming, so comforting, so fun! Y’all made everything flow so seamlessly & made us feel part of y’all’s world. Really showing up for the girls, honoring the legacy, the lineage, & influence of queer nightlife in pop culture & platforming it in such a monumental way will speak volumes for decades.

Coming off a week of the release of ‘A Night Was Had’ & I’m so grateful & tbh overwhelmed in the best way possible with the warm reception it’s receiving so far. Soooo this week I wanted to do a spotlight on the EP’s artwork done by my amazing friend @ahsotn.

I’ve always imagined my nightlife experiences as a scene that Ernie Barnes or Frank Morrison would paint or something as vibrant & ominous as the iconic club scene in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. That’s why they were immediate references for the scene that’s narrated in the EP’s artwork.

Ashton is an artist whose work I admired for so long & to collaborate with him on this really amplified the project’s concept & gave it its wings. I’m forever amazed & inspired by what he does so today I’m bragging about him!!
