Morrison Top 🖤✨️
Whoops I haven't posted anything in September 🤭
Since I started a new job in June I've had a lot less knitting time and struggeled to get through my test knits. So moving forward I will stop with test knitting for a while and focus on patterns that were on my list for a long time and finishing some older WIPs that I had to put aside for test knits.
But in the next few weeks I still have some finished test knits and other projects to show you.
The Morrison Top is a very cool summer design by Miriam Walchshäusel which was released back in July. I was not able to finish the body during the test knit but now it's done and I'm so happy with how it came out. I did some A-line shaping which is an option in the pattern and went with the ribbed hem, where I ran out of yarn. So my hem is tiny and rolls a bit. But I think, that is perfectly fine for a flowy summer top.
I also really enjoyed working with the suggested yarn, which was kindly sponsored for the test knit. It's a cotton / bamboo blend and it feels great on the skin and works perfectly for summer. Because I like it so much, I bought more in two other colors to do summer tops for next year 😅

My Helen Sweater is finally ready to wear 💜
I have been knitting on this lovely vintage-inspired sweater for quite some time. The fan-stitch pattern is very interesting to knit, as the stitch count changes while you do it. But the good thing is, since this is bottom up, you can do it in your sleep when you arrive at the tricky part at the top.
The pattern includes some lovely videos that help you with the fan-stitch pattern and some of the tricky bits on top.
I really enjoyed knitting the Helen sweater and I'm more than happy with the result. It's such a flattering sweater and I already know that I will wear this a lot.
Also the yarn that I used is wonderful! It's a silk/baby camel blend and it is one of the softest yarns I ever touched. It feels so great on the skin, especially in a negative ease garment!

Plume Top 🌸
Another stunning summer top by Maya will be released tomorrow 😍
I was able to test it and I just love it so much already. There are so many beautiful details in the pattern. I love that the increases are completely invisible and that the icord is applied while knitting. There is also a beautiful keyhole detail in the back (which you cannot see here, but check out the other testers projects) and there is also a dress version!!! One day I might have enough patience to make the dress 😅✨️
Some testers also made striped versions, which look so good 😍

I made size 8 with A-line shaping.

As you can see, this is not a bra friendly pattern, but I found a "close enough" sports bra to wear with it.

It's Diana Bralette Release Day 🤎
Another georgeous design by Celiné Feyten and it comes in a bralette and a top version.
The cool thing about this pattern is, that it uses a calculator for the cup size and shaping, which will give you a great fit.
I had a great time testing the pattern and using the calculator to make a bralette that really fits my proportions. Also the cable rib pattern is really fun to knit and keeps you engaged.
I'm really happy with my bralette 🥰

Baltic Storm Sweater 🌊
Let me show you one of the coolest and most challenging projects I ever knitted on.
It was a steep learning curve, especially handling up to three colors per round, each doublestranded while doing ladderback jaquard.
I still have one sleeve left, but I wanted to show my progress, since the pattern will be released this weekend.
I have been knitting on this in front of the fan for weeks, because of the heatwave. But I had a great time with it. The pattern is really well written with lots of charts for all sizes.
Btw the bumps are from me learning how to do ladderback jaquard and struggeling with the tension 😅

✨️ Shimmy Shorts ✨️
I still can't belive that I made these shorts. So many hours knitting on 3mm needles but totally worth it!
The Shimmy Shorts are another great pattern by Maya and they got released today!
Never made shorts before? No problem! The pattern guides you through the process and has helpful advice on how to modify it.
I made some modifications to the increase rate and rise. Go check out my Ravelry project, if you want to see the details.

Duck & Berry Sweater 🦆🍓
This post is long overdue. Last month my friend Julia published her first sweater pattern!!! 🎉
I joined the test knit and made myself a black version with a white crochet border. I already know that I will wear this a lot, since it is very versatile and much more office appropriate than a lot of my other knits 😅
The sweater is a raglan construction with saddle shoulders, Icord edges and a scalopped crochet border.
The yarn I used is Amira light by Lang Yarns, a DK weight 100% cotton yarn, which is surprisingly light weigth and very easy to work with.

I tried to dye yarn, inspired by my cats 😅🐈🐈‍⬛

This week I was at a yarn dyeing workshop at @ju_les_atelier
I had so much fun learning different yarn dyeing techniques and if I had enough space at home, nothing could stop me from aquiring a new hobby. It's probably for the best, that I don't. 😂

Anyways, whenever I need an idea for something, I draw inspiration from my cats 😅
So here it is, the first Nora & Kasimir yarn collection. Limited to one skein per color and definitely not up for sales 😋

I think my attempt was... good enough. Nora's colors are definitely not easy to recreate... especially as a beginner. It was hard to get the black to be black and not grey and the brown contained a bit too much red pigments. But after all, I'm happy with both colors and I'm sure they will look great knitted up as socks.

Btw I also dyed some summery yarn in a beautiful purple/blue color for a tshirt and I will show it once I cast it on 💜 by @selinalismet

New skill in progress 🧵
One of my goals this year, is to learn how to mend my clothes. After knitting for a few years, there are some pieces that need to be reinforced or repaired. Today I had an online workshop with @milli_and_the_bee to learn Swiss Darning and I repaired this pair of socks.
It's not the most beautiful repairwork, but as with any new skill, it will get better with practice 😊
I have a few other items on my repair pile, so there should be enough to practice more 😅
BTW if you want to learn Swiss Darning and speak German, the workshop was great and I highly recommend @milli_and_the_bee

The second month of the KAL by @earthtonesgirl is over and I barely knitted socks this month... but I got one pair done that I started one year ago and was only missing the second sock.
Honestly the whole drama around the designer whose sock designs I'm mostly knitting (also this one) lowered my motivation to finish them and share them here. I currently have 3 more unfinished socks by this designer on my needles and this got me thinking a lot. I don't want to go into details, after all there are more than enough resources out there. Just letting you know that I am aware.
Putting all the knitting drama aside, I did read quite a lot this month and that makes me happy 😊

MEMORY BLOUSE & TOTE BAG 💕

The memory blouse and tote bag are perfect to use your leftovers from other projects. I had lots of fun generating those random stripes from 8 of my leftovers and the result is very cute.

My first intarsia project, that I finished in March. I learned so much during this project, but I also vastly overestimated the amound of yarn that I would need, so a lot of the leftovers in the memory blouse are from this project.

Elsi Vest by @milenapauliina (09/2024)
The vest that made me fall in love with vests. This is one of my most worn garments. I wear it on chilly summer days with a t-shirt and with longsleeve tops in the other seasons and if it's really cold, I just wear a cardigan on top. As some one who prefers to have colder arms and a warm torso, a vest is the perfect garment. I love the small cables on the Elsie Vest and grey-brown color works with almost everything. Big fan!

The Mohn Cardigan is the first garment I ever knitted and it was a test knit. After years of knitting exclusively socks, I don't know why I thougth a test knit was the right place to start with knitting garments. I did know all the techniques, but never had the courage to make something so big. But sometimes a challenge is the right setting to learn something new and to this day I'm very proud of this cardigan und love to wear it.

My first sweater. Back then I didn't know that you should wash your gauge swatch and chose a bigger size, because the swatch was too small. Now it's gigantic, but I love it. It's perfect to wear around the house and it's super cozy.
