from richard scarry’s BEST WORD BOOK EVER, 1963. happy new year! a picture of a page from the children’s picture book “best word book ever” by richard scarry. on the page, there is an illustration of a burning building. there are labels for smoke and flames. there is a cat leaning outside a window calling for help, and the label says “beautiful screaming lady.” there are gusts of water shooting up at the building, presumably from firefighters below by @selomeee

for the cover of @variety’s young hollywood issue, i profiled EUPHORIA star @anguscloud. he opened up to me about the traumatic brain injury he sustained as a teen that impacts the speech patterns he’s now known for…. but mostly we just hung out and ate burritos and ice cream. wildest day of my career thus far. link in bio!

another august 25th is upon us! two years together, two states together, two pets together; two trillion delicious meals and lazy nights and bright dreams together. zain refuses to miss an opportunity to kiss my cheek or hold my hand or invent a dumb nickname or hug an animal or look at the sky or sing abba and all of it makes me a better, happier, luckier person than i was before. unfortunately he did also make me corny as hell :/ by @selomeee

in my experience of being 27 years old (so just today, actually) i have learned that it’s all about having ur buddies over at approx 3:30pm for pizza and cake and then having a clean kitchen by 9pm. anyways in almost every recent pic of me i am laughing my ass off which feels like a good omen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by @selomeee

because of the work i do, i often get asked what shows i’m watching. i think people expect a niche, if-you-know-you-know industry recommendation, but my answer is almost always just “the current season of survivor” or “old seasons of survivor.” wrote about both with @emilylongeretta for this week’s @variety cover!

we spoke with the tribe — jeff probst, mark burnett, parvati shallow, cirie fields, ozzy lusth, mike white, angelina keeley, christian hubicki, rob cesternino, rizo velovic, editor brian barefoot — about the evolution of the show from its gritty, mean and fascinating roots into something optimistic, comforting and new. lots of good gossip along the way. i love this show!!!!

outwit outplay outlast outread the story at the link in my bio and lmk who you want to win season 50 (the correct answer is cirie)💋 illustration by joe darrow! #survivor #survivor50 by @selomeee

last week i got to go home for a town hall @variety produced with @cnn: @tchalamet in conversation with @officiallymcconaughey, an alum and professor at my alma mater @utaustintx. we taped on campus and took questions from current students, which was zany and hilarious and very full circle for me! my digital cover story is at the link in my bio, and you can watch the full convo on cnn tonight at 7pm ET/PT or on variety’s youtube/the cnn app in the coming days 🐂🔸🤠

the first half of my 2025 was about planning and the second half was about executing and the whole thing was about growing the hell up / building a new life / new york city baby 😎😎😎😎😎 i was gonna say it would be sick if 2026 is a bit chiller and less eventful but looking at my calendar i’m like lemme not delude myself so instead i will simply say Here We Go by @selomeee
