POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Holy. Cats. When I first dreamt up this story 14 years ago, if you had told me that one day I’d actually direct it, with incredible actors & a massive crew of highly capable creatives, and that its announcement would be a @variety exclusive, I’d
probably have flipped the everloving fuck out, like I’m doing right now!!! Thank you so much to the incredible @lizakoshy @deanwintersofficial and Brandon Alan Smith for their gorgeous performances, to @furtheradventuresmedia for believing in this project and being incredible production partners, to the nearly 30 cast & crew that worked so hard to make it a reality, to @variety & @selomeee for the amazing article, and to YOU!! For supporting me over the years, watching my videos, and giving me the platform to even do something like this in the first place. I cannot wait to show you what we made. I’m literally editing it right now!!

Old Soul is about a body-hopping consciousness that wakes up in a new person every day - and has been doing so for millennia - who might have finally stumbled across a chance to connect with others in a meaningful way.

And yes, there’s food in it!

I’m not sure what makes this role perfect for me: playing a woman riddled with anxiety or playing a woman who talks to inanimate objects. Either way, I had the best time working with the entire cast and crew! Thank you to casting director @leahmangum, producer @livechickens and of course, writer & director @mr_davidbickel for letting me bring Nessa ‘To Life.’ And special thank you to everyone who helped bring this ‘To Life’ (okay, I’ll stop).

 and then some.

@selomeee and I did a ton of interviews for @variety’s Survivor cover story — about past, present and future. From editing rumors and casting chatter to new/old era debates and the story of an actual lion on camp
 nothing was off limits.

A sneak peek: “Some of the true miserable people that were in earlier seasons, if you’re looking for them, they’re on other shows. Go watch that show,” Probst says. “I think the reason ‘Survivor’ lasts is because we are telling stories that are generally positive. It’s a vicious game. But it doesn’t mean you have to be an asshole to play it.”

By the numbers: In the last 25 years, #Survivor has been consumed for more than 700 billion minutes; in the past four years alone, it’s earned CBS $273.3 million. Currently, episodes are averaging nearly 10 million viewers after 35 days of streaming. #Survivor50

Years before she played a booster, Keke Palmer was a hustler.

Raised in a small suburb in Illinois, Palmer says choosing the path of a kid entertainer “became a way out” for her family. Her early success made her the breadwinner for her parents and siblings when she was still a tween, which was both a relief and an otherworldly burden. “Being a kid entertainer on networks such as Disney and Nickelodeon, there’s no machinery more dehumanizing than that, and I say ‘dehumanizing’ completely without sadness,” she says. “It’s just — you’re a product.”

This mentality stayed intact as Palmer got older and built enough wealth to rest assured that her loved ones wouldn’t ever struggle again. “Once you see the difference between poverty and not poverty, you’re not going to go back. Even if you’re tired,” she continues. “And once you know you have the capacity, you just keep on taking on shit.” Until she neared her 30s, she almost never took breaks: “And I realized in the last couple of years what that meant and what it cost me.”

Her latest film, “I Love Boosters,” is a revolutionary tale that follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven (played by Demi Moore). The director, Boots Riley, is a self-described communist. He built the film around his philosophy that the working class should democratically control the wealth they create. “We believe in democracy and people being owed freedoms,” Palmer says, “even though we don’t get them because of systems we were born into.”

Now, with her three-year-old son Leodis Jackson, the superstar has a new perspective on life. “Before my son, I would think about life in terms of outcomes,” she concluded. [Now], I’m gonna do what feels right and what feels in alignment with me, as opposed to what I think I’m supposed to do. That, to me, is what having integrity and true faith is.”
