☀ New summer hours at my district offices! ☀

Our South District Office (1107-09 S. 6th St) will remain open Monday to Friday, with an early closure at 3pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Our North District Office (1434 Germantown Ave.) will be open Monday to Wednesday from 9am-5pm, but hours may vary in response to budget sessions in Harrisburg. Please keep an eye on social media for scheduling changes!

Whole-Home Repairs is going national!

When we passed the Whole-Home Repairs Program, we hoped it would offer a blueprint for other states grappling with how to preserve their aging housing stock and protect the health of their residents. Today’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act shows the realization of this hope.

The creation of the Whole-Home Repairs Program was a direct investment in the health of Pennsylvania’s people and the stability of our communities. The program provided, for the first time, a statewide response to the epidemic of disrepair affecting our aging homes. It offered a means for people to weatherize their homes against extreme weather and the high costs of energy. It made available resources for residents to adapt their homes so that they could remain even as their abilities changed. Moreover, during a time of depopulation and displacement, it offered crucial support for Pennsylvanians to remain in their communities.

Now, these benefits will be available to communities nationwide. I’m enormously proud for Pennsylvania to have laid the path for national housing action—possible only because of a dedicated and unwavering coalition of advocates, organizers, and residents. And I’m immensely grateful to our federal partners for their vision and dedication in making it possible for people across the country to live in homes that are warm, safe, and dry. by @senatorsaval

WE JUST WON $125 MILLION FOR WHOLE-HOME REPAIRS!

Every person has a right to a home that is safe—a home that is healthy. For decades, urban, suburban, and rural communities alike have suffered from disinvestment from their government at all levels. The creation of the groundbreaking Whole-Home Repairs Program in this year’s budget changes that.

This win would not have been possible without the tireless organizing of a coalition of housing and energy advocates, community organizers, Pennsylvania residents, and legislators committed to fighting our state’s ongoing housing crisis.

This is a hard-fought victory for every Pennsylvanian who is struggling to stay in their home. This program is a direct investment in our people and our communities, whose needs have been ignored, and whose voices have gone unheard. At this time of protracted hardship across the Commonwealth, we have seized a historic opportunity to move the needle on our housing crisis—permanently.

What we have done sets a new standard. Today we have a program to preserve housing across the Commonwealth, to stabilize our communities, to prevent blight and abandonment and displacement, to build a skilled workforce to keep our state at the forefront of the industries of the future, and to protect the place that is most dear to all of us: home. I'm committed to fighting for every household to have what they need to make their home whole.

I am grateful to everyone who shared their story, their experiences, and their support for this program. My office may have put pen to paper, but this program was written by you. The United States needs a model for how to preserve its aging housing stock and create new jobs, and with the Whole-Home Repairs Program, we've made Pennsylvania a leader. ONWARD!!! by @senatorsaval

Big upgrade at the @eastpassyunkcrc!

The Capital Program Office recently completed a $800,000 project at the East Passyunk Community Center in South Philadelphia. The playground has gotten completely new playground equipment and these upgrades come just in time for campers, kids, and families to gather and play this summer.

Socialists in office deliver. On Saturday, Whole-Home Repairs—a program championed by DSA member and State Senator Nikil Saval—became a national model when the 21st Century Road to Housing Act became law.

This program is already delivering for poor and working class households across Pennsylvania—and now it’s going nationwide.

The housing crisis is inseparable from the affordability and climate crises created under capitalism. My legislation to reform our state's guidelines for accessory dwelling units passed out of committee with broad bipartisan support! During the protracted housing crisis affecting our Commonwealth and our country, this bill will update Pennsylvania's regulations to help our communities build in ways that meet the needs of their residents. 🏘️🛠️🏘️

Want to bring an ICE OUT training to your community?? Here’s how!

An ICE OUT Community Training is a two-hour in-person workshop with three parts: 1) Our rights as people on US soil, 2) the basics of bystander intervention, and 3) how to prepare your workplace for ICE activity.

Here’s what you need to host a training:
✅ A space for 15-30 people (church, library, theater, business, etc)
✅ A projector or screen for the slideshow
✅ A two-hour window of time

We will provide:
✅ Trainers
✅ ICE OUT posters
✅ A digital toolkit with resources
