In April I had the chance to give a TEDx Talk at @tedxuconnfarmington . The topic I spoke on was hope as a tool for climate action, where I asked folks engaged in this work to consider what our activism is rooted in. For a long time my activism was rooted in fear and anger, which propelled me towards burnout and made it hard for me to do this work sustainably. Now, I'm striving to root my climate activism in hope and belief in a belief in a better world. Climate Education for Climate Action by @senawazer 🌎 ”It is absolutely crucial that all students receive climate education so that they are informed about what is happening and how they can take action. By working with local communities and activists, we can ensure that states pass climate education, empowering students to understand the climate crisis and how they can be a part of the solution.” This post was written by a member of IE's Contributor Network! In a few weeks I will have the privilege of traveling to Scotland to attend COP26 as a part of the UConn delegation. However, in the lead up to that trip I've been thinking a lot about the burnout that I've experienced in the last year and half, and what that means for me and other youth climate activists, who do so much work to protect our communities, lives, and futures, yet often see little action from those in positions of power. I really appreciate @yesmagazine_ for giving me the platform to share these thoughts and hopefully help spur action at COP26. Also, apologies if any of the slides are blurry, link in my bio to read the article online and in much better quality ☺️ Photo credit: @jaded.image.dump #cop26 #climateactionnow #youthatcop26 #cop26glasgow #actionatcop26 taken in Cop 26 - Planning for our future by @senawazer

Today I was proud to stand with CT's Attorney General @williamtongct as he announced that CT is suing @exxonmobil for lying to the CT people, and the public at large about the role of fossil fuels in driving climate change. Fossil fuel companies have lied to the American people, and the world, for far too long, trying to shift the responsibility for the climate crisis off of them, and onto the consumer. They will not get away with this any longer.  With that said, CT still has a lot of things that we need to do. Namely, stopping the proposed Killingly fracked gas plant, and strengthening outdated environmental justice laws which allow Black and brown, low income communities, to be disproportionately affected by the climate crisis and other environmental issues.  However today I'm celebrating a win. I'm so excited to see CT take this concrete step towards holding fossil fuel corporations accountable for their HUGE role in the climate crisis. #nomorefossilfuels #climateactionnow #sunrisemovement #youthactivism #climateemergency #climatechangeisreal #youthforclimateaction #ctpolitics #ctclimatestrike #ctclimateaction #exxonmobil #fossilfuelcorporationsdontcare by @senawazer
