Gloria Steinem, 1934-2026.

My pas de deux “Petit Pas” incorporated the audio from Gloria Steinem’s famous 1971 speech.

“This is no simple reform. It really is a revolution. Sex and race because they are easy and visible differences have been the primary ways of organizing human beings into superior and inferior groups and into the cheap labor on which this system still depends. We are talking about a society in which there will be no roles other than those chosen or those earned. We are really talking about humanism.”

“@dancetheatreofharlem’s recent @nycitycenter season might have been short, but it packed a powerful punch and resonated with audiences,” writes @sensedancer.

Valentina, Julia, and Max are the young butterflies joining seven adult dancers in my ensemble work MONARCAS for a FREE performance in Bryant Park (NYC) on Friday, June 5 at 7pm. In the piece I am the old man wishing to join the Monarch butterflies on their journey that knows no borders. Thanks to @vildwerk ‘s visionary director Chiara Gorodesky for making it all possible.
