Christmas Eve Eve… how I’ve waited for you. Working and grinding as hard as I possibly can, all year long, waiting for this finish line… feet up in front of the Christmas tree, we’re all home together, the fire is blazing… rest and relaxation TOGETHER until the new year arrives.

The newest member of the Herman family… everyone meet Zeke. He’s a 7 week old German Shepherd puppy. He comes from a long line of working dogs and champions. He’s adjusting nicely to our crazy house and family. We’re enjoying him being a puppy, and trying our best to prep him for when he returns to his Sensei, and starts his training. by @senseiherman

Gotta love it when the first thing your kids wanna do, when they wake up, is work on their chokes.
“Rear naked choke” has nothing to do with being naked... With no apparatus whatsoever, a person using proper technique, can choke another person unconscious in less than ten seconds.
Live to train. Train to live.

CONGRATULATIONS, MY LOVE...

9 years ago, my wife was supposed to take her Brown Belt test. I never wanted anyone in the dojo to think that anyone in my family was given anything, any easier because they were my family. So I made everything harder for my wife, and my children. Partially because I wanted them to go through the training and ranks the “old way”

We got married, and my first born, was a honeymoon baby, so we couldn’t do the test then. Then another child, then life kinda got in the way, and she wasn’t getting in the required “mat time.” We train a lot at home, and my wife is often my training partner for skills I’m still learning and practicing. She often teaches our children when I’m working, and they have extra energy that need focusing. Needless to say her training and effort has been constant. You can’t live in my house and not train on some level, daily.

In recent years, she helps me teach at the dojo, and even covers my classes, if needed, when something comes up last minute. And, it makes me so happy to see how well received she is by the students in the dojo. She’s got an awesome personality, and the perfect blend of “strict and fun” Instructor. When she gives students pep talks, or coaches them, she has got a really amazing way about her. It reminds me of some of the reasons why I fell in love with her.

In our home, in our family, we are WARRIOR CLASS. Just about everything we do in our home and in our family, is somehow influenced by the Bushido Code, the Way of the Warrior... respect, kindness, compassion, integrity, bravery, loyalty, humility, diligence... and a bit of “badassery.”

Congratulations, my love on being an exemplary role model of all the we, as Warriors, parents, instructors, and business owners, stand for. The Brown Belt is long overdue. Now we set the goal for BLACK BELT.
I love you, and I’m so proud of all that you are, and continue to become.

Grammy went up to Heaven yesterday...

I went to see her on Thursday before I left for Survival School. She hadn’t been doing well for a few weeks now. I knew it would be any day. I’m sorry that she left while I was gone. But I could feel her carrying me through one of the hardest days and challenges I’ve had in many years... like she was helping me one last time before she went up to Heaven. That’s Grammy for ya.

I always said that if I could find a woman who loved me, even half as much as Grammy, I’d marry her. Well, while I was away, my wife took care of it all... the dojo, the kids, and even my whole family. My Grammy was the strongest woman I’ve ever known. My wife is more like her than she knows.

As sad as I am to see her go, I’m relieved that she’s not suffering even one more minute, and that she gets to finally be reunited with her son who went up to Heaven so many years ago. I wish I could’ve been there to see look on her face when she got to see him again.

Rest In Peace, Grammy.
Go fly with the Angels.
I hope you’re not cooking or cleaning already.
I love you and miss you so much.

Happy Anniversary SuperWife...
Can you tell we don’t get out much?
It’s hard to believe how fast 9 YEARS went by. You’re more beautiful now, than ever. My best friend, my confidant, my soulmate... the one who knows me best, who lifts me up, pushes me forward, and even holds me back when it’s in my best interest. There’s no one I’d rather ride this insane roller coaster with, no o e I’d rather raise kids with, laugh with, cry with, and every now and then fight with lol.

Happy early Birthday to my Valentine’s Day Birthday Girl...

Super Hot, Super Friend, Super Mom, and SuperWife all wrapped into one. She saved my life, so many years ago, and so many times over the years since. She’s the Queen of our castle, the protector of our three beautiful children, and Jax!

She cooks, cleans, shops, organizes, plans, and keeps it all running like a well oiled machine... she does it all with such grace, and good cheer, making it look easy in the process.
She’s the wind I our sails, the one who has my six, who encourages and supports our dreams and endeavors, while keeping us grounded and focused, with the axes to the grind.

She puts us all ahead of herself, all the time. I don’t know what we would do without her.
My Love, You still knock my socks off EVERYDAY. Everything you do, everything about you, all that you are, all that you are about. It does it for me. I love you with all my heart. I couldn’t imagine a better partner to have by my side on this crazy ride.
