Seeing wild orangutans 🦧 i flew to Medan, North Sumatra for less than 72 hours just for this 36hr jungle trek through Mt Leuser National Park (one of TWO places in the world with wild orangutans) and not only did we see them, but we got within 3 ft! My grandmother loved orangutans and this was the reason I came for the hike. North Sumatra is also home to the Thomas Leaf Monkey, White Handed Gibbons, and Long Tail Macaques as shown in later slides. To finish the trek, we went white water rafting. 10000000/10 recommend adding this to your bucket list taken in North Sumatra by @sephy__

📍Mt. Ijen, East Java I witnessed the rare phenomenon of electric blue lava, caused by ignited sulfuric gases at high temperatures. This surreal sight is only visible in a few places on Earth.

A midnight hike, the smell of sulfur in the air, and a vision that feels like stepping into a dream.

But beyond the crater, it’s the people of East Java who left the biggest impression. Standing in awe at the base of Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, where nature’s power cascades in perfect harmony.
