Sardine run, Port St Johns, South Africa. I’ve been a divemaster/guide for 3 seasons and can wholeheartedly say that those long, quiet days of not seeing much are worth it for the wild, unforgettable moments.

Started the year with a surfboard to the face! 2023 you have been a wild ride, and I am grateful. Thank you to the wonderful people in my life - you are all the world to me. It is also such a treat to catch up with everyone in NY for the holidays before heading back to SA.

I’ve been pretty slack at sharing the old life update so here goes. Since being notified about my PhD in September (now have the paper yay!), I’ve been helping with EU blue economy projects, am a Principal Collaborator with the Manta Trust (another manta dream come true!!!), and was awarded an honorary research affiliate position at UCT for 3 years. With this I will continue research and co-supervising postgrad students including those from the amazing @sharkresesechunit (so proud of my former student!). And the thing I am most excited about is still in the works… 🌀✨🌊🐋
