A little something to save before your camera roll fills up at High Point Market 🤎

We know how it goes...
You leave with hundreds (maybe thousands) of photos and videos, a few new favorite makers or collaborations, and more inspiration than you know what to do with.

Within that camera roll is a record of everything that caught your attention, from the details you couldn't stop looking at to the pieces that surprised you. Together, they tell a story about your taste, perspective, and the way you see design—and there's plenty of opportunity to share that story beyond the usual Market recap.

Swipe for a few ways to put those photos and videos to work long after Market ends, and give this a save for when you're back home, sorting through it all. by @serenemktg

As we get ready to head to Fall Market, I’m reminiscing about Spring. Particularly, our afternoon spent at @verellenfurniture that I haven’t stopped thinking about months later.

It wasn’t originally on our itinerary—we were back to back with client content sessions—but after hearing everyone rave about it, we had to check it out ourselves. And instantly, we got it.

Beautiful furnishings, of course, but also an outdoor courtyard with the loveliest live music, cocktails, thoughtfully curated makers, and an atmosphere that made you want to stay awhile.

Having spent 6 years in Colorado, there was something about the warmth, natural materials, and indoor-outdoor atmosphere that felt especially familiar. But beyond the personal connection, what struck me most was how seamlessly it all came together. Every detail was intentional and every maker felt like a natural extension of Verellen’s world—their brand world.

It’s one thing to create a beautiful showroom. It’s another to create an experience that stays with someone long after they’ve left.

I wrote more about our afternoon at Verellen, the art of creating a brand world, and why the experience left such an impression on our Substack, The Serene Edit. Furniture brands, take notes! 📝 🤎 by @serenemktg

If a fashion designer came to us ready to move into interior design… we wouldn’t start from scratch.

We’ve had designers come to us in similar spots, switching mediums and unsure where to start, so our creative director imagined how we’d handle this one.

She’s burnt out from fifteen years of collections built to be replaced every season. Now she wants to make something that lasts, and she’s worried it looks like she’s starting over.

As she moves into interiors, there’s no denying there’s a lot to learn: space planning, construction, sourcing, the trades. But her eye for proportion, fabric and finish? That carries over—and that’s really the point of this exercise.

Whether you’re moving into interior design, shifting your specialty, or building a studio that’s evolved beyond its original niche, there’s often more worth carrying forward than you realize.

We believe the best branding begins by understanding what makes a designer distinctly themselves: their experiences, perspective, creative instincts. The things that don’t disappear just because the work is changing. From there, we can build a brand identity that connects where they’ve been with where they’re going.

Swipe to see how we’d approach this imagined transition, from brand positioning to visual identity.

Our work takes us from Market to the mountains, and we wouldn’t have it any other way 🏔️

A peek behind the scenes from a recent brand shoot with Studio South. The interior design studio is based on the family’s ranch in Colorado’s Vail Valley, a place where the rugged West meets effortless elegance, and where Southern hospitality and mountain living come together naturally.

It isn’t perfectly polished. It’s windy and dusty, full of horses, black labs and an adorable Dachshund puppy, fabric samples and tile layouts. And it’s the kind of place where everyone is welcomed as though they’ve been coming for years.

We’ve been working on a larger rebrand for Studio South, shaping everything from their positioning and messaging to their visual identity. With that foundation nearly complete, this shoot was about making sure the imagery felt just as distinctly Studio South.

The incredibly talented @rylocreative photographed the day, while our team led creative direction: the visual story and scene compositions. The ranch gave us plenty of story to work with. A mother-daughter duo, European flea market finds, friends’ artwork covering the walls, Persian rugs alongside Native American textiles, generations of family photographs, and people who treat hospitality as a way of life, not something saved for special occasions.

There’s a lot more to this story (and this rebrand) that we can’t wait to share. For now, consider this a little preview 🤎 by @serenemktg

There’s a lot a product photo can show you...and there’s a lot it can’t. When Modway brought us on to manage their social media, one of the opportunities we identified was expanding the way their audience could experience the brand online.

They already had beautiful product photography. What we wanted to add was another layer of content that could bring people closer to both the product and the world around it.

Market is where the brand comes to life. Clients are walking the showroom, sitting in the furniture, touching materials, talking through pieces and sourcing for projects. By capturing those moments as they’re actually happening, we can bring some of that behind-the-scenes Market experience to Modway’s much larger social audience—and show the brand being explored, experienced and interacted with.

It adds a human layer to the content while giving people who aren’t standing in the showroom a closer look at what it actually feels like to be there. With showrooms at High Point and Las Vegas Market, those few days each year have become an important part of our content strategy.

Each Market, our team spends time in the @modway.furniture showroom building a library of photo and video designed specifically for social: product details, texture, color, movement, styling, showroom moments and the people experiencing it all.

Since incorporating more of this content into Modway’s social strategy, it has consistently outperformed traditional product imagery and helped introduce the brand to a new audience. That’s not because one is better than the other—they simply do different jobs. Product photography gives you the polished view, while Market content brings you inside the brand. Together, they tell a much fuller story.

Next week, we’re heading back to @highpointmarket to do it again and can’t wait.

P.S. Interior designers may be a big part of our world, but they’re not the only part. Serene works with furniture and home brands, too 🤎 by @serenemktg

We’ve been getting some version of this question a lot lately, from current clients and on discovery calls:

“I know I need to show my face more, but I don’t want my audience to think I’m trying to be an influencer.”

There’s been a big push toward personal brands, face-forward content + video, and for an interior designer who built a business around their work—not around being the product—it can feel like a very blurry line.

But showing your face doesn’t automatically make you an influencer, and making your marketing feel more personal doesn’t mean making your personal life part of your marketing.

There’s a difference between **personal content** and **personality-driven content.**

Your potential clients don’t need to know what you ate for breakfast or what you did all weekend, but they probably *definitely do* want to know what you think, notice, have strong opinions about, how you make decisions, what you value in a home, and what it feels like to work with you.

Your clients aren't just hiring your portfolio. They’re hiring a person they’ll trust to make hundreds of decisions about their home. So show your face and share your perspective—let people get familiar with you. You don’t have to become an influencer to let the expert behind the work be seen 🤎 by @serenemktg

We’re holding onto the magic of summer a little longer—with plenty of inspiration brought home from Greece, a few five-star reads, and a farewell to the season through the eyes of some of my favorite designers.

Inside: the Greek islands through my camera roll, a handmade necklace I found in a tiny shop on Naxos by @erosyalmajewelry, summer moments from @mollykiddstudio, @kellywearstler, @athenacalderone, @colinking + more, plus a little marketing talk, of course.

This video is only a snippet of everything inside. If you’re already a subscriber, check your inbox. If not, join us at the link in bio 🤍
