Rooted in memories of sunny days in Rio de Janeiro, this set is a tribute to Brasil’s Black Music from the 70s-90s. It’s a deep dive into an era where US funk and soul collided with an unmistakable Brazilian „suíngue“. The late 70s and the „black rio movement“ also marked the birth of the sound system era. Legendary crews like Furacão 2000 got their start playing these classic soul, and boogie records, laying the groundwork for what would eventually evolve into modern funk carioca and baile funk.
Growing up in Rio, @giulianodopiano started mixing brasilian music in his teenage years. Artists like Ed Motta and Sandra de Sá have deeply shaped the way he sings, listens, and grooves to music. We say goodbye to our home with a heavy heart, but thankful for the space provided, their exceptionally kind staff, and for @markgill444 support. Our upcoming dates are cancelled until further notice, but do not worry: we are working hard on finding new options.

The closure of Arkaoda isn’t an isolated incident. It is the result of a calculated political shift transforming Berlin through aggressive gentrification, rising costs, and the precarization of cultural life. As always, this displacement hits marginalized groups, especially migrant and queer communities, the hardest.

Drawing inspiration from the Brazilian Modernist movement, Thanhsx embraces and transforms diverse cultural influences into a soundscape of his own. Born in Brazil and rooted in Berlin, Vaccaro carries a deep connection to Afro-Brazilian rhythms and a background in percussion. His music draws influences from different scenes and sounds, shaped mainly by progressive, deep/tribal house, driven by the raw and unpolished energy of the late ’90s.

Ziriguidum comes as an experiment and compilation of tracks that showcases mainly our Brazilian “ziriguidum”, flowing between classics of Brazilian popular music, with a special mention of Alceu Valença, Zeca Baleiro, and Lenine. These are artists who, over the years, have been integrating classic rhythms into their music—like Baião, MPB, and Samba—with contemporary sounds like Neo Rock, Breaks, Electro and Bass Music, etc. Throughout the set, you can also find African, New Zealand, and US artists that have been part of my collection and inspiration. Cat aka kidcat, is a vinyl DJ and co-founder of the record store and label @pleasure.patterns.berlin . She is known for her dynamic blend of genres, ranging from dark obscure Disco to New Wave and EBM. She found her creative spark in Berlin’s underground scene, where her passion for DJing flourished. Kidcat thrives on the entire journey of music, from the thrill of digging through crates to unearth hidden gems, to sharing those discoveries on the dance floor and witnessing the pure joy they bring to the crowd.
