Opening on October 16th, with a reception with the artist from 5 – 8 PM.

At the center of the exhibition are the ongoing Color Studies, made in collaboration with an international group of contemporary photographers. Each begins as a negotiation between photographer, image, paper, ink, and screening. Photographs are reconstructed in combinations of two to six spot colors, producing versions rather than reproductions.

Alongside these works, an accumulation of tests, proofs, charts, offprints, and research material exposes the otherwise invisible labor of that translation.

[color/shift] is ultimately aimed at photographic reproduction as an act of versioning. Against the frictionless circulation of digital images and the art world’s investment in authenticity, scarcity, and provenance, the project wagers instead on infidelity and slippage.

Shaffer is Associate Professor in the School of Visual Studies at the University of Missouri, where [color/shift] was initiated. by @servicebureausaic

Riso Club! Riso Club! Riso Club! 🎨 Two Color Print Party

Join us for a Two Color Print Party — fast, fun, and joyfully communal. This is a high-energy, low-pressure space where experimentation rules and happy accidents are celebrated.

We will be using charcoal and watercolor paints to play with the unpredictablilty of ink, water and paper. The Risograph translates shades of gray into distinct ink opacities - both charcoal and watercolor create fantastic opportunities for textures and gradients.

We’ll provide materials + cutting tools. ✂️

No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to jump in.

Don’t forget to stop in to the first meeting of the semester. We will be using grayscale markers and your creativiity to make 2 Color Buttons!

To make things even more magical we will be using our two favorite colors…. Flo Pink and Flo Orange! These inks contains special pigments that will allow us create fabulous glowing buttons that will actually fluoresce!

Come for the vibrant vibes, stay for the inky glamour, and leave with a stack of fabulously fierce buttons that scream main character energy.
