If @seventh_chapter_design has felt suspiciously quiet lately, I promise it’s only because I’ve been aggressively head-down in some brilliant new projects. Consider this an official teaser… I can’t wait to share what we’ve been building behind the scenes very soon.

With the seasons shifting, the interiors and hospitality industry calendar naturally decided to pick up the pace, giving me the perfect excuse to swap caffeine for a cocktail and embark on a North-South whistle stop tour.

First up was a pootle up north to Manchester for the @designinsiderlive @telegraph_furniture talk at @kingsttownhouse with @eprarchitects
Between an intimate tour of the newly renovated hotel (which is gorgeous by the way and brownie points for the @mrdanhillier artwork in the reception 😍) incredible food, swanky cocktails, and far too much dancing, it was top-tier from start to finish. Although, my niece’s shockingly enthusiastic, zero-volume-control wake-up call the next morning was definitely universe-mandated karma for staying on the dancefloor “past Cinderella hours” 👸

Then it was down South for the eagerly awaited @reconnection_event hosted by the powerhouse of @conceptcontract @ps_interiors_ @egecarpets @sunburydesign @waterburybathroomsaccessories @chelsomlighting at @thisissmiths
Sunset drinks over St Paul’s, non-stop belly laughs, and adding some genuinely wonderful people to the ever-growing industry squad list, you really couldn’t ask for a better night. 🤓🍷

Last Thursday was the annual @solusceramics summer party and the sun definitely got the memo! 😎

What better way to spend a Thursday evening after a busy week, than basking in the evening sun on the @buttonfactorybirmingham roof terrace and enjoying some amazing food and great conversations!

What does it actually take to turn a bold, ambitious vision into physical reality?
Too often in the Built Environment, great ideas stall. Visionary design clashes with financial deliverability, or policy gets disconnected from the very communities it's meant to serve.

Last Monday, I was invited to a fantastic panel discussion in the @ehsmitharch showroom in Birmingham, featuring a rare convergence of development talent, academic rigour, and visionary design.

The panel guests brought incredible insight and such much needed brutal honesty - something I admire.

@tombloxhammbe chairman and founder of award-winning regeneration company @weareurbansplash architect and urban regeneration developer. It was incredible to see someone with so many accolades (489 awards to date!!) be so humble about his beginnings and the honesty about not necessarily getting it right first time but having the determination to design something you’d be proud of to put your name over the door! I’d have loved to pick his brains some more but missed him after the panel.

@prof.sanaofficial (@mybcu ) brought invaluable academic and social rigour, unpacking why well-intentioned projects stall and what it actually takes to build true community consent alongside physical structures. Asking the question what truly is affordable housing?

Eliot Postma (@officialheatherwickstudio)shared the design intelligence behind the new Birmingham FC Stadium, proving that bold, provocative design and practical deliverability don't have to be mutually exclusive. I loved having front row seats to the design narrative 🤓

Hosted by the wonderful Tania Ihlenfeld (Ede Enablers) who spoke powerfully about what it takes to support and develop the formidable changemakers our industry needs to move forward.

I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend a warm Monday surrounded by leaders and decision-makers who genuinely want to change how our industry operates-not just locally, but globally.

Thank you to the host and panelists for such a thought-provoking evening. I'm already looking forward to re-watching the film.

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of joining the @panazfabrics team onboard the @driftwoods_thames river yacht on the River Thames for the @commercial_interiorsuk summer party!

It was a fantastic evening and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with industry friends and make new connections. There were some great conversations being had and some celebrating… all soundtracked with the fabulous @clivealiveofficialmusic on the decks! 🎧🎶

Some legendary silly hats made a themed feature of the evening (a big thanks to @michaeldownesmd for bringing the laughs!)🦀🦞

But mostly a big, HUGE thank you to the @panazfabrics team for hosting such a memorable night. Watching a breathtaking sunset right over Tower Bridge was the perfect way to end the evening (all before dashing off for the last train like a less-glam Cinderella!)

And thank you as always to the @commercial_interiorsuk team for organising such an incredible event. by @seventh_chapter_design

Trading the desk for the deck this week! 🛥️

I’m incredibly excited to step away from the screen this Thursday for the @commercial_interiorsuk Summer Party on the River Thames. There’s nothing quite like trading office walls for waterfront views and great company.

@clerkenwelldesignweek is hands down my favourite time of the year! 😍 Three days of industry updates, innovation, serious inspiration and a whole bunch of wonderful like-minded people.

This year I could only make it down for one day, but I made the absolute most of it!
Trying to fit CDW into a single day is a marathon, but getting out there to learn and be inspired is so crucial for keeping the creative juices flowing, it’s essential for what we do!

My day was a beautiful blur of catching up with, and happy accidents bumping into amazing people. A few major highlights:

✨ Peak Maximalism at @panazfabrics Their gorgeous stripey showroom was everything! (Swipe to see the lovely @clivealiveofficial DJing in a bespoke suit made from their stunning new “refined” jumbo cord fabric... I already have a project in mind for this! 😍) So good to see @hazel_panaz @danielle_ward01 Joanna, Rollie, and Tony!

🍦 Sweet Treats at @eggeruk Catching up with the lovely Egger team at their showroom for a product update and some very welcome ice cream! Thanks @wattsmeistergeneral & Jonny

🎙️ Designing for the ‘New Era of Stay’: @designinsiderlive panel talk at @ulstercarpets hosted by the lovely @alysbryan with @akrana @sophiborel Joanna Knight and Kalindi Juneja.

The big takeaways? The rise of “Resimercial” design as people rent hybrid hotel rooms for up to a year as their actual “home” making live in spaces more important and built in kitchenettes a handy addition.

👉 A fun full-circle moment: the panel mentioned @ibisstyles Burton on Trent as an example of these live-in spaces, which happened to be where I’d booked for a festival weekend the day after for this very reason - getting to experience this first hand was a bonus!

👉 Design requires ultimate empathy. Put yourself in the guest’s shoes. And as Joanna Knight said “We’re nothing without our suppliers.” (Couldn’t agree more!)

I definitely have FOMO seeing everyone’s posts, a day just wasn’t enough to see it all, but I’m walking away inspired by the new products and ideas this year.

Last week, I traded the studio for a sunny trip to Whitchurch to visit the Innerspace showroom.

As designers we’re always looking for ways to bridge the gap between “beautiful” and “functional.” We spent the morning touring the behind-the-scenes of the incredible Innerspace team showroom and nerding out over a new fail-safe planter insert document that makes specifying across suppliers a breeze, meaning no more onsite sizing disasters! 🤓👏

After a delicious showroom-grown lunch came the best part: getting our hands dirty. We used the beautiful new ‘Prairie’ foliage to craft our own potted arrangements🪴

The best days are the ones filled with high-energy, laughter, and incredible people. So lovely to see @pinkgingirl and @pammievp again, and meet the lovely Nicola and a special thanks to @innerspacerich mum for the delicious cake! taken in Innerspace Cheshire by @seventh_chapter_design

Playing catch up on some of the brilliant events from the last few weeks…

After returning from a wonderful evening at the Commercial Interiors UK Next Gen awards, the fun didn’t stop there...

Friday night I was lucky to be invited along to the St George’s Day Ball - Birmingham Rocks with @coreusgroup at the Burlington Hotel
A great evening of fine food, great conversation, some hilarious fancy dress and a lot of fun, all for two great causes, the Matt Gallagher Foundation MND and Alzheimer’s Society.

A special thank you to Jack Davis and @charlton.guy for the invitation and letting me joining the best table of fellow construction, hospitality industry peers.

Lovely to meet some new people, to name a few Robert Walder Helen Mason Simon Metcalf Elliot Hockley and many more!! Thanks for bringing the entertainment
