POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I headed down to Birmingham a couple of weeks ago to the @bof_furniture showroom.

I spoke at a very close-knit creative brunch of interior designers and architects, which had been organised by Pam Virk-Paul, Annie Wearn (@seventh_chapter_design) and Max Fowler.

Thanks for the invite (until next time!) 💚

If @seventh_chapter_design has felt suspiciously quiet lately, I promise it’s only because I’ve been aggressively head-down in some brilliant new projects. Consider this an official teaser… I can’t wait to share what we’ve been building behind the scenes very soon.

With the seasons shifting, the interiors and hospitality industry calendar naturally decided to pick up the pace, giving me the perfect excuse to swap caffeine for a cocktail and embark on a North-South whistle stop tour.

First up was a pootle up north to Manchester for the @designinsiderlive @telegraph_furniture talk at @kingsttownhouse with @eprarchitects
Between an intimate tour of the newly renovated hotel (which is gorgeous by the way and brownie points for the @mrdanhillier artwork in the reception 😍) incredible food, swanky cocktails, and far too much dancing, it was top-tier from start to finish. Although, my niece’s shockingly enthusiastic, zero-volume-control wake-up call the next morning was definitely universe-mandated karma for staying on the dancefloor “past Cinderella hours” 👸

Then it was down South for the eagerly awaited @reconnection_event hosted by the powerhouse of @conceptcontract @ps_interiors_ @egecarpets @sunburydesign @waterburybathroomsaccessories @chelsomlighting at @thisissmiths
Sunset drinks over St Paul’s, non-stop belly laughs, and adding some genuinely wonderful people to the ever-growing industry squad list, you really couldn’t ask for a better night. 🤓🍷

Back at the desk, fueled by countless cuppas, and very ready for the next round of autumn catch-ups! 🥂

Last Thursday was the annual @solusceramics summer party and the sun definitely got the memo! 😎

What better way to spend a Thursday evening after a busy week, than basking in the evening sun on the @buttonfactorybirmingham roof terrace and enjoying some amazing food and great conversations!

Lovely to see the Solus team @solusryansolus @lee_solus @rachel_solus and Ella (so lovely to meet you!) thanks for putting on a top notch soirée 👌

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of joining the @panazfabrics team onboard the @driftwoods_thames river yacht on the River Thames for the @commercial_interiorsuk summer party!

It was a fantastic evening and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with industry friends and make new connections. There were some great conversations being had and some celebrating… all soundtracked with the fabulous @clivealiveofficialmusic on the decks! 🎧🎶

Some legendary silly hats made a themed feature of the evening (a big thanks to @michaeldownesmd for bringing the laughs!)🦀🦞

But mostly a big, HUGE thank you to the @panazfabrics team for hosting such a memorable night. Watching a breathtaking sunset right over Tower Bridge was the perfect way to end the evening (all before dashing off for the last train like a less-glam Cinderella!)

And thank you as always to the @commercial_interiorsuk team for organising such an incredible event.

Trading the desk for the deck this week! 🛥️

I’m incredibly excited to step away from the screen this Thursday for the @commercial_interiorsuk Summer Party on the River Thames. There’s nothing quite like trading office walls for waterfront views and great company.

Looking forward to catching up, celebrating our hard work, and spending a fantastic evening with everyone.

See you all on board! ⚓️

@clerkenwelldesignweek is hands down my favourite time of the year! 😍 Three days of industry updates, innovation, serious inspiration and a whole bunch of wonderful like-minded people.

This year I could only make it down for one day, but I made the absolute most of it!
Trying to fit CDW into a single day is a marathon, but getting out there to learn and be inspired is so crucial for keeping the creative juices flowing, it’s essential for what we do!

My day was a beautiful blur of catching up with, and happy accidents bumping into amazing people. A few major highlights:

✨ Peak Maximalism at @panazfabrics Their gorgeous stripey showroom was everything! (Swipe to see the lovely @clivealiveofficial DJing in a bespoke suit made from their stunning new “refined” jumbo cord fabric... I already have a project in mind for this! 😍) So good to see @hazel_panaz @danielle_ward01 Joanna, Rollie, and Tony!

🍦 Sweet Treats at @eggeruk Catching up with the lovely Egger team at their showroom for a product update and some very welcome ice cream! Thanks @wattsmeistergeneral & Jonny

🎙️ Designing for the ‘New Era of Stay’: @designinsiderlive panel talk at @ulstercarpets hosted by the lovely @alysbryan with @akrana @sophiborel Joanna Knight and Kalindi Juneja.

The big takeaways? The rise of “Resimercial” design as people rent hybrid hotel rooms for up to a year as their actual “home” making live in spaces more important and built in kitchenettes a handy addition.

👉 A fun full-circle moment: the panel mentioned @ibisstyles Burton on Trent as an example of these live-in spaces, which happened to be where I’d booked for a festival weekend the day after for this very reason - getting to experience this first hand was a bonus!

👉 Design requires ultimate empathy. Put yourself in the guest’s shoes. And as Joanna Knight said “We’re nothing without our suppliers.” (Couldn’t agree more!)

I definitely have FOMO seeing everyone’s posts, a day just wasn’t enough to see it all, but I’m walking away inspired by the new products and ideas this year.

Lovely to see everyone I crossed paths with, and to those I didn’t get the chance to see, let’s catch up soon 🙂

Last week, I traded the studio for a sunny trip to Whitchurch to visit the Innerspace showroom.

As designers we’re always looking for ways to bridge the gap between “beautiful” and “functional.” We spent the morning touring the behind-the-scenes of the incredible Innerspace team showroom and nerding out over a new fail-safe planter insert document that makes specifying across suppliers a breeze, meaning no more onsite sizing disasters! 🤓👏

After a delicious showroom-grown lunch came the best part: getting our hands dirty. We used the beautiful new ‘Prairie’ foliage to craft our own potted arrangements🪴

The best days are the ones filled with high-energy, laughter, and incredible people. So lovely to see @pinkgingirl and @pammievp again, and meet the lovely Nicola and a special thanks to @innerspacerich mum for the delicious cake!

Playing catch up on some of the brilliant events from the last few weeks…

After returning from a wonderful evening at the Commercial Interiors UK Next Gen awards, the fun didn’t stop there...

Friday night I was lucky to be invited along to the St George’s Day Ball - Birmingham Rocks with @coreusgroup at the Burlington Hotel
A great evening of fine food, great conversation, some hilarious fancy dress and a lot of fun, all for two great causes, the Matt Gallagher Foundation MND and Alzheimer’s Society.

A special thank you to Jack Davis and @charlton.guy for the invitation and letting me joining the best table of fellow construction, hospitality industry peers.

Lovely to meet some new people, to name a few Robert Walder Helen Mason Simon Metcalf Elliot Hockley and many more!! Thanks for bringing the entertainment

Also, where do I get a wine dress??? 🍷

It’s been a busy weekend of LOTS of fun.

Last Thursday I was lucky to be invited to the Next Generation awards dinner at the beautiful Halle St Peter’s, Manchester.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners 👏 👏

Thanks @telegraph_furniture for inviting me and what a great table - Gutted I forgot to take a table photo, too busy having fun!! 🤓

It was great to meet some new faces, catch up with some of the very best in the industry, and of course… dance the night away.
I think we’re all feeling a little fragile today!

Thanks to @alysbryan @juliedesmette3 @commercial_interiorsuk for organising another incredible evening!

✨Throwback to mentoring at the University of Northampton.

I was lucky enough to be invited back by one of my former tutors to share my experience with the next generation of designers at UoN. After years of presenting to clients and even standing on stage in front of peers, you’d think speaking to a room of 30+ students would be easy… but for some reason it was the most nerve-wracking of all! Who knew that would be the moment I’d start stumbling over my words 🤦🏻‍♀️

It turned out to be an incredibly educational day, not just for the students, but for me as well.

The students reminded me of the pure joy in the creative process. That stage where ideas flow freely, before budgets, VE exercises and tight timelines start shaping the outcome. It was a great reminder of how fun and exciting this part of design can be and how lucky we are to do what we do.

The other big takeaway for me was the idea of unlearning. To teach properly, you have to strip things back and remember that knowledge comes with experience. What feels obvious to you now was once completely new.

My favourite part of the day was going around one-to-one with the students and asking them to talk through their projects. Even the shyest among them lit up when given the chance to explain their design.

A huge thank you to Nas, Angelique and Jason for such a great day.

After a weekend full of love, I thought I’d post about the love of my life…. DESIGN 😍

I was lucky to take a day out of a busy workload to visit @surfacethinking at the beginning of the month and enjoyed catching up on some of the latest products - I don’t like the term “trends” because that implies designing for the short term and not considering the full product lifecycle or the purpose.

This was definitely a take away theme for a lot of the talks I attended, creating meaning, context and caring about the products you use.

It was also a key takeaway from the design awards, with some great repurposing ideas from the award winners! Well done to those involved 👏👏
