Five works from the Seventh Fundraiser, all still available.

Seventh has been artist-run since 2000. Rent and artist fees alone cost us more than $42,000 a year, and public funding falls well short. Every dollar raised goes straight back into paying artists and running our programs.

Swipe for six works, from $150:

Jenn Arllen, the things we tend. Acrylic on canvas. $400
Holly Goodridge, My Head Hurts. Hand-knitted yarn on a timber frame. $350
Yen Qin, She'll Be Right. Stoneware with gold lustre. $620
Kym Maxwell, Roots Takeover. Pencil and acrylic on watercolour paper. $150
Pascal Nordenflycht, Tres. Oil and pencil on dibond. $300

Afterpay is available, so a $500 work is 4 x $125.

On view at Seventh Gallery, 27 Wellington Street, Collingwood until 10 October, Wednesday-Saturday 12-6pm. Online purchasing is open until 25 October. Link in bio.

Canapé reveal for Harana, curated by @angelita.biscotti, featuring live sets by @angelita.biscotti and @pianopunk and casually luxurious eats by @halaya.melbourne and @asrc_catering.

Harana, the Filipino word for serenade, is a public love confession in song form, a display of vulnerability before the beloved and the world.

On Friday 2nd of October 2026 from 6pm, Harana at Seventh brings canapés, community and a confessional-contemporary-classical sound to Collingwood in a salu-salo (party). Harana at Seventh is a serenade with a twist, a lullaby for the impending Venus retrograde in Scorpio, glitch-driven party-poem that professes love for cities that don’t always love you back. From Naarm to Manila to Phuket and back, @angelita.biscotti will share excerpts from their @thailand_biennale audio mix “Gallivanting” plus new work, featuring an opening performance by @pianopunk

Free entry, RSVPs required via link in bio

Seventh's Annual Fundraiser Exhibition opens next Thursday, 24 September, 6 to 9pm.

Spring has arrived, the band is booked, and the cocktails will be flowing. Come hang with us, bring your friends and help keep Seventh running.

Seventh has operated as an artist-run space since 2000, and right now we really need your support to keep going. It's been a tough year for independent art spaces, and Seventh is no exception. Buy a work, a t-shirt, a print, a drink. Be part of Seventh's future.

Featuring: Rebecca Suares-Jury, Jemi Gale, Maki Ogawa, Kym Maxwell, Noah Spivak, Johanna Van Der Linden, Georgina Lee, Natalie Papak, Benjamin Baker, Saskia Pandji Sakti, John Brooks, Camille Perry, Lauren Cameron, Linda Studenda, Grace Wood, Lily Holmes, Thang Do, Asha Madge, Ruby Hoppen, Frankie Pan, Tom Blachford, Nina Gibbes, Jenn Ferguson, Tai Snaith, Betra Fraval, Alasdair Mcluckie, Yuria Okamura, Nicky Tsekouras, Holly Goodridge, Meg De Young, Kyle Archie Knight, Pascal Nordenflycht, Lucie Loy, Sol Fernanzez, Ivana Lilith, George Akl

A few more from All That You Change, Changes You.

Pictured here are Manisha Anjali and Genevieve Callaghan in The Pillars - a poetic performance for an audience of one. Paola Balla's beautiful portrait Margie the Matriarch with grand daughters, Maggie & Rosie (2018) in situ, and Paola and Rosie telling us some stories and sharing about Paola's Ghost Weaving methodology. Some more moments of Adele Wilkes' projection, and people watching Night Fishing With Ancestors by the Karrabing Film Collective. Clara Chanisheff giving her talk Second Reading. A moment from Nick Ashwood's performance Spectrum Voice, where we collectively made a piece using ghost tones - the sounds generated inside our own ears through the interaction of frequencies. Saikat Bhattacharya with the most amazing sitar performance, and finally Prudence Rees-Lee playing at the end of her talk about making feminist music.

Thank you again, so much - this was such a special program, with the most amazing group of artists and thinkers. We feel very blessed.

Some more photos from All That You Change, Changes You - our symposium on feminist, relational and pluriversal practices of world-making.

Pictured here is Ivana Lilith's beautiful painting Matrilineal Love / Matrilineal War (Nature Morte / Trophy Hunt), from her series Leaving the Wunderkammer: Seeking Divinity. Also some more details of Adele Wilkes' lightboxes and the four films from her Poison Garden project that we projected across the day. A moment from Rebecca’s Conroy’s talk and collective zine making workshop - Relational Accelerationism is Not a Thing, and Poli Pearl spinning some tunes at the end - along with some pics people watching, talking, listening, drawing, and just being together in the space. Thank you again to everyone - artists and participants, for such a wonderful day.

There are so many good photos from the symposium we can't fit them all into one post! Here are some beautiful moments from Tina Stefanou's performance work, with Duré Dara on percussion, and Lisa Salvo, Dario Vacirca and Meera on live voice. Tina phoned in all the way from Philadelphia, so her voice was present in the chorus too. Really special.

Also pictured are moments from the feast prepared by Ronen Jafari, graced by the most beautiful sitar performance from Saikat Bhattacharya. You can also see Adele Wilkes' luminous lightboxes hanging alongside the audience.

Thank you so much to all the artists involved - this was so special. Thank you to Nina, Dario, Jon and Lucie for curating such a thoughtful program and bringing everyone together, and thank you to everyone who came along, participated, and made the day what it was. And thank you to Library Portal for hosting us. We'll keep sharing more pics over the weekend.

Notes on access 🕊️

Everything you need to know about getting to and around Library Portal for the symposium this Saturday.

Northcote Station (Mernda line) is a 5-minute walk. The 11 and 86 trams stop nearby, and there’s street parking on Hawthorn Rd and surrounding streets.

The venue has step-free access and plenty of seating throughout the day. It’s a quirky old building, so some rooms are dimly lit and others full of natural light. If you have specific access needs, please let us know before the day and we’ll do our very best to accommodate you - community@seventhgallery.org

Matter & Spirit is in its final two weeks. Timeball, the third and concluding exhibition of the project, closes at Seventh Gallery on Saturday 15 August at 6pm.

To mark the end of a six-month inquiry into matter, extraction, transformation, and site, we are bringing all of the artists together for a conversation that will move across all three exhibitions, unpacking the ideas that have run through the series - Jane Bennett’s conception of vibrant matter, Joshua Simon’s writing on neomaterialism, and the wider questions the works have raised about agency, extraction, infrastructure, and political economy.

Join Kym Maxwell, Nicholas Burridge, Leon Rice-Whetton, Katie Paine, Rachel Rovira, and Angus Brown alongside curator Lucie Loy. It is a chance to bring your own questions and thinking too.

Free - RSVP via the link in our bio so we can plan for numbers.

Timeball is the third and final part of the Matter & Spirit series; looking at time, control and infrastructure. Artists Rachel Rovira and Katie Paine both research into how systems — clocks, gates, old rail and telegraph lines — were built to keep order, and what happens when they break down.

On until next Saturday 15 August. Wed to Sat, 12–6pm.

Artwork by Katie Paine. Photography by Meg De Young.
