♟️1,000,000+ possibilities. Chess can be played out in more ways than humans can comprehend. It’s just a board game, yet somehow it mirrors life. Move a pawn, take a knight, risk your queen, go for the kill, take a defensive position. One decision can change everything and send things in a direction you never could have imagined.

I try to teach chess to my boys because it’s a great tool for teaching patience, provoking thought, planning ahead, and executing. The highs and lows are real. You lose some pieces, gain a little ground, get pushed back, and then find a way forward. It’s a constant battle of decisions and consequences.

My 10-year-old beats me every once in a while (albeit, I’m not all that good) and every time it happens, it makes me proud. He often mirrors my moves. They say the only person who truly wants to see you become better than them is your father. I think there’s a lot of truth to that.

So get out there and make some moves.

This world is going to keep spinning with or without you, and it will be here long after we’re gone. You don’t get to control every outcome. You only get to decide what move you make next.

Make it count. by @severe_gear

Our boys have learned so much this summer. From cross contamination to making the perfect sauce! @cocorissa has been swapping between each of our boys each night teaching them individually how to cook, + priceless one on one time w each other. The boys get to pick the dish and she doesn’t allow repeats. She really does it all folks! 👏 by @severe_gear
