A new Huxley has joined the husk*. Say hello to Holiday Huxley the Hare, the new limited edition @sewyeah embroidery kit with a whole new jewel toned palette and a scattering of reclaimed silver sequins and glass beads. The design is screen-printed onto 100% wool felt making him a joy to stitch, just cover the floral design with your favourite fill stitches - I suggest satin or split back stitch, cut out the pieces and then sew together following the detailed photographs in the instruction booklet. Hello! So many lovely new followers have found me recently which is amazing. Seems like my embroidered felt creations found a little place in your hearts (and hopefully future project stash! ❤️) which is just so lovely and special for me. So this is me saying hi 👋 and thank you and welcome!

This selection of photos are from a time in December when I felt proud of myself. It was at my studio open day and I had set everything up like a little shop. It was very pleasing to see all my kits and makes out on show and I had a moment of thinking ‘ooh look, this is what I do now’. Here’s a few more facts about me to get you all up to speed …
1. I trained as an illustrator, worked 25 years as a designer and art director of women’s magazine but have always been a little bit crafty.
2. I started selling regular (one a month) embroidered felt pattern PDF’s during lockdown - I also ran Friday night Instagram live sessions and built up a great creative community.
3. Now I also run the @sewyeahsocialclub Subscription Service which is starting back in February with a new set of monthly projects and online workshops.
4. I am gradually turning my favourite digital patterns into kits and pattern books. Look out for Huxley The Hare and his sister Honey in the months to come.
5. I teach workshops at museums, on cruise ships, in my own studio, at craft fairs - anywhere you want really!
6. I’ve written 12 craft books - if you look on your shelves maybe you have one of my books.
7. I recently got a new studio as part of a bursary from the Worshipful Company of Broderers. This place makes me feel happy, calm and like I can do anything. Which is pretty good isn’t it.

Here is the tale of the three little kittens that lived inside a giant pumpkin. One was Kooky, one was Spooky and the third was just too adorable 😺😻😹. No one understood how they all fitted inside the pumpkin. 🎃 I’d say magic. ✨ a perfect felt and embroidery project for these autumnal days, quick and easy to make for Halloween.

😡 UGH. I’ve just found two of my pattern PDF’s available for sale on a scam sewing website called Luciindasewing. Both Bernice the Bat and Gaia the Guardian Angel are up there which is heartbreaking after all the hard work and love I have put into these designs. Especially Gaia. This scam website also offer kit versions which I don’t do. It looks like all the other products on there are just ripping off other small businesses. Grrrr. Anyone know what I can do? I’ve emailed them only to get bounce back responses. 🙄 I’ve already had one person email me saying they’ve not received their kit and it’s hard to know what to tell them!

Day 9 of showing up with something I’ve made by hand. Here is the ninth pattern in my series of Wyld Women talismans. I call her Alfwynn The Boundry Reader and here is her story

September brings back balanced days.
Low harvest moons and long sun rays.
As mists creep in and swallows dance,
Alfywnn takes the final chance
To check her boundries, walls and fences,
before the end of year commences.

Alfwynn’s name comes from Alf - elf and Wynn - bringing joy. Elves in Anglo-Saxon times were though of as powerful spiritual sprites, benevolent beings who offered protection. Wyld Woman Alfwynn is the protector of the boundaries, both physical and metaphorical. She flits around the Wyrd Wood checking the hedgerows, harvesting the blackberries before the Devil can claim them on Michaelmas! She’s a good person to confide in as she never pushes the women to speak until they are ready. Alfwynn knows boundaries protect everyone whether seen or unseen.

My Year of The Wyrd Wood is a monthly embroidery subscription club that has been running through 2026. Each month you receive embroidery patterns for a different Wyld Woman talisman and an appliqué felt flora or fauna panel. Both go towards larger wall hangings that build across the year.

It doesn’t matter if you are only joining now as you will have access to the full year to date patterns and then you will receive new designs at the beginning of each month going forward.

Day 8 of showing up with another embroidery pattern. This time it’s Bernice and Batricia the not remotely scary vampire bats. I love this little embroidery project with their cleverly clinging wings and feet. Tiny bat hugs for everyone 🦇 and they love hanging from plant stems and pen pots too.
