Protecting Monmouthshire's rivers starts with understanding their health.

Every week, volunteers like Councillor Catrin Maby carry out citizen science water testing across our county, helping to build a clearer picture of the challenges facing our waterways.

Protecting our rivers and natural environment is a priority for Monmouthshire's Labour-led administration - because safeguarding these special places today means future generations can enjoy them tomorrow.

This Volunteers' Week, we're saying thank you to the people who help make Monmouthshire such a caring and compassionate place to live.

At Bulwark Foodbank, volunteers give their time, energy and kindness to support people when they need it most. Their work makes a real difference, helping families through difficult times and strengthening the communities around them.

They are just one example of the thousands of volunteers across Monmouthshire who quietly give their time to support others, run local groups, organise events, look after community spaces and lend a helping hand whenever it's needed.

Thank you to every volunteer who helps protect and strengthen our communities. Your commitment, generosity and hard work make Monmouthshire a better place for us all.

Cllr Mary Ann Brocklesby, Leader of Monmouthshire Council, welcomes the reopening of the Llanthony road following February’s landslip.

The closure caused major disruption for residents, businesses and everyone travelling through the area, which is why council teams worked tirelessly to get the road reopened as quickly and safely as possible.

Mary Ann has thanked everyone involved in the repairs, along with local residents and businesses for their patience, understanding and support throughout a very difficult few months.

Morning, day, evening and night. Rain, cloud, sun - and even some hail…

For the past few weeks, our fantastic candidates and members gave it their all, campaigning tirelessly: knocking doors, delivering leaflets, sharing posts, putting up posters, and speaking with residents.

These are all warm, decent and hard-working people who genuinely care about their communities and the people who live in them, fighting for a brighter future across Wales.

Now the campaign has come to an end and the results are in, we want to say one final massive thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and support. It will never be forgotten.

The fight continues! 🌹 by @sftlabour

🚨 REMINDER: If you want to vote tactically in Monmouthshire & Torfaen to stop a Reform Government in Wales - vote Labour! 🚨

Here’s why. 👇

There’s 6 seats up for grabs here and according to a poll from More In Common: Green can’t win any seats, Plaid can only win one.

With only 2% between the Labour and Reform, they are the only parties who COULD get 2 seats.

And with things so tight nationally, 1 extra seat could be all Reform need to form a Government.

Climate deniers or someone who cares deeply about our planet? That’s the choice you’ll make tomorrow. 🚨

Anthony Hunt is 2nd on Welsh Labour’s list of candidates here in Monmouthshire & Torfaen - and according to polling, he is in a very close battle with Reform for the final seat.

Torfaen resident and Councillor Sue Morgan explains why Anthony would make a fantastic representative in the Senedd.

He knows our communities, loves our local environment, and would fight to clean up our rivers, protect our parks and open spaces, and tackle climate change for the next generation.

So tomorrow, the choice is clear:

Climate denying Reform representatives who wants to scrap net zero - or Anthony Hunt, someone who cares deeply about our planet and the future we pass on to our children and grandchildren.

Tomorrow, vote Welsh Labour. 🌹 taken in Torfaen by @sftlabour
