We recently bid farewell to Dr. Jennifer Reid as she embarks on her new journey down in LA!

Immediately following all performances of Innocence at the War Memorial Opera House, San Francisco Opera’s Department of Diversity, Equity and Community (DEC) and BEYOND INNOCENCE partner organizations will offer spaces for collective reflection, dialogue and healing. The activations will provide audience members different spaces to reflect on, emotionally process, discuss and delve deeper into the production and mobilize around promoting safe, vibrant and healthy communities.

All Opera House offerings are open to Innocence audience members.

Post-show events within the Opera House include: Talkbacks with artists and creative team members centered on the opera and production.

Reflective space for quiet, grounding activities guided by UCSF Wraparound counselors @sfwraparoundproject

Arts-based activities to help patrons process through tactile and sensory expression, led by Community Arts Stabilization Trust @castsf and their affiliates.

An advocacy space where Live Free USA @livefreeusa and GIFFORDS Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence @giffords_org will be available to discuss advocating for safe communities from both grassroots and legislative perspectives.

Additional offerings at the Opera House include: In partnership with the William James Association’s Prison Arts Project @prisonartsproject an art exhibit created by artists from San Quentin State Prison. Program participants read the Innocence libretto and explored themes of innocence and guilt—prompts for the resulting artwork that will be displayed. The installation is designed to help viewers reflect on the idea that everyone has an inherent capacity to create harm.

The Wraparound Project is proud to be one of many amazing recipients of @zsfgcare’s First Annual Equity Awards.

Stopping the revolving door of violent injuries is not only an important task within our community, but it’s also something that takes time, dedication, and a passionate group of professionals who truly care about making a change and being the change.

We would love to thank all who made not just this award possible but those who have supported our team as much as we support each other. The work is not over yet and we will continue to be there to wrap our arms around those in need.

On April 25, 2024, The Wraparound Project alongside @sfusdsac #SVIP and @sf_richmond brought the fun to George Washington High School for the first ever Unity Event. Showcasing our way of spreading Peace Love and Unity the students had the opportunity to visit a variety of educational booths to learn about Stop the Bleed, Fire Safety, Hands Only CPR, Helmet Safety, The Native American Health Center, First Aid, Job Opportunities @sffdpio @sfpdofficial and so much more!

Not only were students given the opportunity to learn, they had the chance to win amazing prizes, enjoy pizza delivered by @jamrapizzeriagrill, Burgers and Hotdogs cooked up by @pacificislanderresourcehut, dance to music queued up by @djthickofficial and bounce around on one the many jumpy houses lined up on the football field. Whenever they needed a break, the calming room hosted by the #TRC was there with coloring books, puzzles, and a space to just relax.

Huge thanks to all the donors, volunteers, staff, and students who helped make this event a success. Big thanks to @georgewashingtonhighschool for opening your doors and allowing us to bring fun and learning to your students. @ucsf_surgery @londonbreed @sf_dcyf @susanehrlichzsfg @zsfgcare @sfghfoundation @gavinnewsom @sf_dcyf @thebetterlab taken in George Washington High School by @sfwraparoundproject

This week the Wraparound Project team is in Chicago for the annual meeting of the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI). Our team of Violence Prevention Professionals, mental health therapist and trauma surgeons is excited to meet with other Hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) and community-based organizations from around the country to share ideas of how we can create a system of healthcare that mobilizes hospitals and communities to end violence together.

HVIPs have now existed for over 20 years. Today, the HAVI is a national organization that fosters hospital and community collaborations to advance equitable, trauma-informed care and violence intervention and prevention programs to heal communities affected by violence.

The Wraparound Project is a key member of this movement and coalition. Together, we will promote equity and build sustainable programs for victims of violence.

Our Wraparound Violence Prevention Professionals are back in action by seeing patients at the beside and linking them to community resources in order to stop the revolving door of trauma.

Wraparound is modeled on the understanding that violence is preventable and with the right intervention, the risk of further violence can be mitigated and lives transformed.

• Violence Prevention Professionals (VPPs) are the backbone of Wraparound.

• VPPs have served over 1,000 clients since 2005.

In the program's first 10 years, ZSFG saw a 42% relative reduction in assault related re-injuries.

• VPPs assess each client's needs and shepherd them to risk reduction resources such as education and employment support in order to address the social determinants of health.

Our VPPs establish longterm mentoring relationships with clients and provide trauma informed care.
