Earlier today, I announced I’m running for Mayor of Columbus. Now I’m asking you to join me. Link in bio.

I love this city. It gave this gay, Black, working-class kid from Southfield opportunities I never imagined.

But Columbus is changing fast. And what got us to this point won’t get us where we need to go next.

So I’m running to give this city a choice.

We can keep doing things the way we’ve always done them. Or we can embrace change, welcome new ideas, and go in a new direction.

For some people downtown who want to play it safe, that may be scary. But a great city shouldn’t settle. Columbus is full of dreamers and doers who know we can do better, think bigger, and live up to our potential. This campaign is for you.

My vision is a city where growth delivers for the people who already live here—where families actually feel all that progress we’re bragging about in their bills, their lives, their schools, and their neighborhoods. Because if Columbus is going to prosper, we’ve got to cut everybody in on the deal.

In the campaign to come, I may be outspent. But I won’t be outworked. And with all of you, I won’t be outnumbered.

How do we get more young people to vote? We start by talking with them about the issues that matter.

Had a chance to join Jack and Jill of America for a conversation on voting rights, civic engagement, and why young voices matter. Appreciate the opportunity to connect with these young leaders and hear their perspectives!

Early voting is underway! Let’s carry that energy to the ballot box and elect Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown. Weekday early voting runs from 8am-5pm, with Saturday hours from 8 am-4 pm at @franklincoboe by @sg_hardin

What’s up, South-Western City Schools! I’m asking you to vote YES on Issue 6. ✅

We have a chance to unlock state matching dollars and bring them home to build two new schools with this no new millage levy that authorizes bonds and won’t raise your taxes. Let’s get it done.

A lot of our Columbus kids go to school in @southwesterncity . It’s the second biggest school district in Franklin County and the fifth biggest in the State of Ohio. They deserve great classrooms, room to grow, and a community that shows up for them.

Let’s bring those dollars home and put them to work for our young people. Vote YES on Issue 6!

What’s up, Columbus! We need a partner in the governor’s office who will invest in our public schools and help us move our city forward. That means we’ve got work to do right now.

Come out this Wednesday and join me and the Central Ohio Labor Council for a postcard writing party. We’re helping get folks to the polls for Amy Acton for Governor and Sherrod Brown for Senate. Sometimes a note from a neighbor is the extra push somebody needs.

I got to meet one of democracy’s secret weapons…Joan Johnson.

We are in the season where cable news panels shout themselves hoarse. Political campaigns boom and bust. The internet loses its mind twice a day.

And Joan? She just keeps showing up. Helping people vote, making sure everyone gets the accommodations they need. She’s done it for 39 elections straight.

While the rest of us argue about which bubbles to fill in, the real MVPs of American democracy are the folks like Joan who make sure we get the right ballot, have a fair chance to cast it, and that every vote gets securely and accurately counted.

Board of Elections staff. Poll workers. Volunteers. They show up election after election. They don’t get famous. They don’t get nearly enough thanks. And without them, none of this works.

The Franklin County Board of Elections at 1700 Morse Road is open for early voting Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, for the next two weeks. Weekend voting starts Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8 am.
