This is the capital city of the Kingdom of Elyssia - Dalcester. It is a prosperous nation that is the home to the largest combined population of humans and demihumans. Despite all of this, humans have always had the upper hand on demihumans both socially and economically, and it has remained that way for centuries.

Some notable locations:

1). Dalcester Castle (near the upper right) - this is Lenny's home. Supposedly. He hardly spends time here as a student of the Royal Magic Academy: Alimeur (see below), and only visits a few times every year. But because of where the castle is, he finds both leaving and going to the castle to be a "huge pain in the butt" due to how far away it is from everything. He views the castle as more of a prison than anything else.

2). Royal Magic Academy: Alimeur (bottom center) - A prestigious academy that many from all over the world attend in order to hone their skills in magic and other magic related things. As the future heir to Elyssia, Lenny is required to attend, just like those before him.

As I've said earlier, even though Clarissa is diplomatic in her approach to everything, she truly does not like humans nor anything associated with them. Although she isn't entirely certain if King Leonard XIII is truly responsible for her mother's death, she still harbors a lot of resentment for the city itself.

A bit of a dev log I suppose lol.

I got around to finishing the proof of concept for these two starting levels.

Here's some plot details. XD

Clarissa's journey starts off early in the morning as she tries to stop her older sister, Veronica, and her band of demihuman generals from invading the capital city of Dalcester. She takes the train to the city and attempts to go unnoticed by wearing a hood covering her ears (the only thing that gives her away as a demihuman), but as her sister starts the attack, the guards on the train are set on high alert. She almost makes it to the city unnoticed but a guard forced her to reveal her face. Realizing that her cover is going to be blown, she goes on full offense. This sends in several Dalcester soldiers to the train shortly after.

As this is happening, Lenny overhears his classmates talking about a haunted forest in the city of Narréz, which is on the border of the neighboring country, Arksall. He ditches class and sets out with his pet dragon, Drax. However before he can fully investigate if this rumor is true, a bright light flashes in the city which prompts him to return - this is the exact moment when Clarissa and Veronica clash. They get attacked by Gobbos on their way back.

Now, it's up in the air if these two levels are gonna look like this in the end. We'll find out lmao.

And the first song is officially done!

It was a lot of fun making the music, and then using this music to give me ideas of how I want the level to look.

Overall, I wanna drop a nostalgia bomb on ya'll and invoke classic SNES vibes through this project, while also incorporating some awesome things from newer games.

We watched Forgotten Island last night! And I ABSOLUTELY loved it. I spent this whole year reconnecting with my roots and learning more about our culture beyond just what we do at parties and I felt so rewarded as there were SO MANY things I caught that I felt I would have missed if I didn’t. Big shout out to @kirbyaraullo as I’ve been following you pretty early on in this journey of reclamation and I know you were in charge of making sure everything was depicted properly. ❤️

My favorite character was Bungi, the Tiyanak on the far left in the first picture. He was basically a magical videographer/photographer but a little later into the movie, you see how he does it. It was through weaving. As an Aklanon, I immediately interpreted that as piña weaving. I might be wrong but this is something I really love about this movie: it put bits and pieces of the whole country into it.

Also, @msleasalonga as Manang was so badass. 😭 but also, growing up, I did occasionally refer to my oldest sister Stephanie as my “Manang Stephanie” (Manang/Manong is usually a title that goes to your oldest sibling/cousin) and so Manang here reminded me a bit of my sister 😅

I definitely need to watch this again so i can catch more of the things I missed. Please go see this movie!!! ❤️🇵🇭

I’m so glad that we got a movie for ourselves, and I appreciate that Sean went with me to see it. Hopefully someday we can also get a Vietnamese movie, and one that isn’t centered on the war lol.

Ngayong gabi, ginawa ko ang sinigang na baboy! Noong bata pa ako (at kahit na hanggang sa ngayon), di ko talaga gusto ito kasi napakaasim. Masarap daw kapag ginagawa ng tatay ko, kaya tinanong ko siya kung paano ang gawin ito. Gusto ko sinubok ulit na may ilang pagbabago; idinagdag ko ang bagoong sa kanin at gumana nga! Tinanggal nito ang konting asim. Tsaka, ipinasubok ko si Sean at gusto niya talaga! Alam ko na gagawin niya iyon kasi gusto niya ng mga maasim na pagkain (at mga maanghang na pagkain). Sa kabuuan, masaya ako! 😁

Tonight, I made pork sinigang! When I was a kid (and even until recently really) I really didn’t like it because it is *very* sour. Apparently when my dad makes it it’s really good, so I asked him the other day how to make it. I wanted to try it again and make an adjustment; I added bagoong in my rice and that did the trick! It removed some of the sourness. Also, I had Sean try it and he really likes it! I knew he would because he likes sour foods (and spicy foods lol). Overall, I’m happy with what I’ve done today.

The next test would be to have my family try this. 😅 by @sh0nix

#fitnessfridays🏋🏽‍♀️

This was on Wednesday I took the more recent photo.
Me back in 2019 -> Last year -> Wednesday.

I always like putting up my before pic because it’s a nice reminder of how far I’ve come - and honestly now I can’t even believe I have come this far; I’ve lost almost 60 lbs!

I started upping my cardio about a month ago - I run 3 miles/5km every other day now, and then walk that on the off days to recover. But also tried to get a little more strict about indulging in snacks/sweets lol.

I feel athletic now 😅 I should find some actual athletic shit to do. I know the @charlotteroyalsrfc want me to join them but honestly rugby kiiinda scares me and I’ve tried but even practicing makes me apprehensive🤣 I’ll think about it. Maybe I’ll try ⚽️? lol. by @sh0nix

Last night I attended “Hibang sa Musika” hosted by the Filipino American Community of the Carolinas ( @facc_carolinas ). Sean had other plans for the night so I went by myself. I’ve gotten pretty good at going to things like this without “needing a friend” to come with me lol.

This concert is held every year (this is the third one) and features local artists and bands all across North and South Carolina. I was impressed by what I heard, but also not surprised lmao. You know how us Filipinos are when we have a microphone. 🤣

But as I mentioned when I went to my first FACC event last month, I hadn’t been around a big group of Filipinos in 10 years since moving here to North Carolina. And usually, I’m the only Filipino person I know in any group of people I’m around. I got used to it but then realized how much I actually miss my community a while back.

Not to get too much into it but I moved here to NC from California after a rather cataclysmic event that uprooted my whole family and I ended up finding myself here. I basically had to rebuild my whole life all over again, and figure out who I actually am.

It’s taking me a bit longer than I had planned lol, and while I’m not sure this is the final piece of myself that needs to be put back, putting my Filipino identity back was probably the biggest piece of me that I needed. Everyone’s always telling me “it’s ok Shaun, just be yourself” but who was that? Reconnecting with my culture and people has brought me so much closer to being able to answer that.

I miss the sound of Titas being loud af and screaming at each other even though they’re talking to each other point blank. I miss the dumb jokes Titos will tell me as I try to act like that shit isn’t funny (but it is). 🤣 I took all these things for granted in California. Being away from it for so long and then having it finally come back got me a bit teary eyed, NGL.

I had a good night. I can’t wait to go to more of these things.

Picked up Tokon two days ago and I am already having a blast, even though I’ve been stuck on the character lessons and haven’t actually played anyone yet lmao.

My team is
Magneto - the zoner of my team and plan on using him as point so I can enable the rest of my team to get in.
Cap - he’s basically the Ryu/Ken of this game lmao. Using him to either help Magneto with zoning people out or mixing people up with the other two.
Loki - he’s my setup character. He’s here to put all sorts of bullshit on the screen lol.
Wolverine - the rushdown. Once everything’s set up, I just have him go ham. 🤣

There’s so much to unpack for this game, but I already love it so much. I played the fuck out of BlazBlue so the gameplay reminds me so much like playing Litchi (she played like she was in a tag fighter) so I feel right at home here. 😭❤️

This past weekend was Pride Weekend here in Charlotte! This year, I decided to grab inspiration for my festival outfit from these South East Asian divas lmao. I thought it was cute both No Na and Bini wore pretty much the same thing not too far apart from each other, so I took it upon myself to do something similar. 🤣

It was a fun festival! It was REALLY hot though, and I did not realize I was walking around so much this weekend either. ☠️

It's been a minute since I've updated ya'll on this lol. So, this is the boss of the Astral element: Caelum. I updated his design about a month ago to make him a bit younger (and smaller cuz he was comically pretty large IMO lol).

He's a reference to both Astel from Elden Ring (a cosmic dragonfly is just such a nice touch lol), and Vergil from DMC - he also wields a sword that can cut through the fabric of reality lol.

This sword is called "Astraeus" and Clarissa can have a copy of this herself once she beats Caelum (however, I have not really worked on her so you won't be seeing any of that today lol)

And here are the spells Lenny will learn from it:

Forward - Star Bullet - fires a barrage of homing projectiles

Up - Meteor Storm - summons a storm of meteors.

Down - Lunar Veil - creates a field that alters the gravity of any enemy that enters it. Not only are they slower but they also fall slower, making comboing easier.

Aerial Down - Black Hole - summons a black hole that sucks all enemies towards its center.

Neutral - Portal - Lenny disappears and conjures a portal at his original location. Inputting a direction will have Lenny reappear in a new location at that direction and summon another portal. This is where it gets interesting - Lenny and most enemies can be transported through these portals. Lenny, however, can also fire projectiles through the portal and they will come out the other side, allowing for some crazy setups. (This one took me FOREVER to figure out how to code but I'm very proud of it lol)

Just bought Yasmine! These combos were a little hard. They aren’t exactly Street Fighter IV 1 frame links but harder than I was expecting coming from this game, and harder than I was expecting coming from her lol.

Gonna go for a my afternoon run but will give her a real spin afterwards! Let’s see how I do. 🤣🇵🇭 by @sh0nix
