First TIFF 🧿❤️

Being in the same rooms as some of LA’s talented entertainment journalists for TheWrap, and supporting them was such a great learning experience.

And seeing live interviews happen Anna Kendrick, Cynthia Erivo, Christopher Briney and a Michelle Yeoh?? CRAZY.

Grateful forever🤍

Back-to-school shopping calls for a stock-up on my all time favourite detergent: Gain!

The Gain Flings, specifically the Gain Super Flings Vibrant is my favourite scent! As summer wraps up, it allows me to bring pockets of my favourite season throughout the year💗

Shaaranki Kulenthirarasa is a “radio roomer” at the Toronto Star this summer! 🗞️

As an editorial trainee, Shaaranki is in charge of monitoring social media platforms, and regularly checking in with emergency services to provide tips to the newsroom. She also writes breaking news stories under tight deadlines and works closely with editors to implement feedback. ✍️

She said one of her highlights this summer is the messages she’s received from readers about her stories.

“My favourite experience at this job so far has got to be the wholesome emails I get after writing a good news piece. In May, I wrote about how a ski resort manager provided the chance for a dying dog to roll in the snow one last time. I got so many emails and messages after the story thanking me for writing about this. Some even said it made their days,” said Shaaranki.

Sharaanki also said that her position at the Star did not come without hard work and persistence. After unsuccessfully interviewing for the same position last year, she implemented the feedback she received and continued to build her journalistic skills at TMU. When she applied again this year, she got the job! 💫👏👏

She encourages her fellow @journalismtmu students to stay optimistic when going through the job search process, be bold and try again if need be!

Congrats on all your hard work @shaaranki and thanks for sharing with us!

Have you also been doing something interesting this summer? Please share it with us by sending a DM or emailing media.connect@torontomu.ca.
